I am not trying to justify megabuck cables.
Do cables Matter?Here's proof

Cable advocatesget beaten over the head by cable skeptics who claim no demonstrable difference. This approach provides an easily repeatable test that cable can act as antenna or filter.

While I am not prepared to call it proof it is at least a credible hypothesis wprty of further investohation.

Hi, All -

I think this is the link to which Greg is referring:

The simple demonstration in this video should be valuable to anyone who uses cables in their home audio system! This is a good start to understanding more about how cables transmit noise and how this interference affects the performance of your system.

Old, simple, teachable and enjoyable. Thanks. A few comments:

1) The FM signal strength being measured is in the MHz range which is obviously part of the story, particularly as it relates to cable noise transmission.
2) It would have been nice to measure some common properties that provide a more complete story such as full bandwidth (in both the audio and HF range); as well as the fundamental properties of capacitance, inductance and resistance (or even better, reactive impedance). I think you would agree these are important contributors to how any cable sounds.
3) A simple table of the above properties would be easy to see the differences among these at a glance. I'm sure similar detailed comparisons are out there somewhere.

However even this simple demonstration supports what we all know- there are physical differences in cables that underlie their sonic differences. Does anyone still deny this? The hard part is trying to correlate measurements (any measurement) with sonic perception. It seems that will be debated long into the future.

So what are the alternatives for not using cables in a home audio system?
A really misleading statement....

It is an answer. We know cables do something.
The question is what? It seems a test like thawould pique scientific curiosIty.
I read an article on blind testing. The author that he wanted to any significant results. Tha is while 5 out of 10 is consistent with guessing, it is also consistent with getting 5 out of ten correct. Assuming a binary choice.
There does seem to be a March toward wireless. We now lay our phones on a pad for charging. Audiophiles tend to hang on to old values. It will not be easy to rip those cables out of our hands.

Marty I had just watched a video by Audioholics with the usual objectivist arguments. They did find a difference but claimed it was negligible. I posted this one because it was different.
