now that cold weather is upon us and wife seeing people without power in the cold for days in the news, she had been bugging me to get a new generator as a backup power source for home use. We currently have a 1300 watt gas unit. We barely lose power here in Edmonton, never had to use the unit that we have for over 10 yrs.. having one will give us peace of mind, and who knows, might be able to use it when we actually have more time doing the outdoor stuff.

I am thinking of going with a generator inverter. don’t need the Bugatti of generators, just need a reliable and practical unit, 3000 watts maybe.

Honda EU3000is looks like a solid candidate

Firman 3200w also look like a good unit, can go gas or propane, electric start

thoughts?

TIA

As we are building our cottage which is off grid we have to use genrator to power up all the tools. Have the Honda EU6500 and also a diesel Honda 5000 diesel.
They have been super reliable. The EU3000 is a great generator, sips fuel and is quiet.
