I wish The Great had gotten more recognition. I found it to be funny, clever, and really well acted, especially by Fanning and Hoult.

Watched Nomadland last night. A very interesting piece of indy film making and highly recommended.

We watched it last week based on all the hype. Definitely not my type of movie. The longest 1 hour and 45 minutes I ever spent and kept looking at my watch praying it would be over soon. IMO the only decent thing about the movie was Francis McDormand who I thought would not only be nominated but would win. She didn't

I thought the best win of the night was

Emma Corrin, "The Crown" — Winner

I thought the Crown has consistently been one of the best series on TV

I thought her portrayal of Princess Di was simply fantastic

I also thought that The Queen's Gambit deserved all of it's wins. For us it was the best series of the year

I was absolutely transported into the world that so many Americans find themselves in: the single manufacturer that held together their rust belt town went out of business. They are now effectively homeless, working one gig economy job to the next. What I loved about this movie was that the story was presented without a heavy moral message or judgement, it was a simple story and the viewer was left to make their own conclusion. I found the camera in hand documentary style of this movie quite effective.

Sometimes you have to me in a specific mood to watch something this unique and groundbreaking.

as for what was the Golden Globe critics thinking when "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm" — Winner

as well as
  • Sacha Baron Cohen, "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm" — Winner
What an absolute joke that was. Hamilton which I saw on Broadway was one of the great stage productions that I have ever seen and Lin Manuel Miranda is a genius in the role as Hamilton and IMO should have won

I also so thought that Nomadland as Best Picture made me want too throw up

For me, the hands down Best Of The Year was the Trial Of the Chicago Seven and I would have given the Best Supporting Actor Award to Sasha Baron Cohen who proved himself in that role

We will have to agree to disagree. I did like the things you mentioned especially using true nomads in the film but what a dud of a movie for me other than Francis McDormand to whom I would have given the Best Actress award

Put me in the "Nomadland was a great movie" bucket. Such a fantastic look into the lives of people who have not taken the traditional route. The movie evoked different emotions for different people. I felt a bit sad that I have so many material possessions while these people have so little. I also felt jealous of how much these people seemed to care for one another even though they didn't know each other well. Zhao did an amazing job of combining true nomads with actors in creating this film. She was definitely worthy of the award.
