I'm posting this question on behalf of my Dad, he's just purchased a Grundig TK18 and is wanting to by a reel to try out on it to see if it's working. Sorry if this is a stupid question or if there is an existing thread I should have been posting in, are all reels the same size? Any help would be greatly appreciated.:)

There are others more experienced here but not all machines can use 10" reels and the largest they'll accomodate is 7". And then there are even small reels for samplers :)

here is a link to tape recorder basics which might prove helpful to you or your Dad and answer many of his questions. it may also help him to enjoy his tape recorder more.
