HDMI 2.1 / 2019

It is my understanding that the HDMI 2.1 chipsets for Processors and AVRs will not be available until June of 2020. I have wondered if buying a tv now with HDMI 2.1 is worth while because things could change when the chips for the AVR and processors come out. If it is just a software flash that is fine but I would be pretty annoyed if the Silicon was already out of date.
