This looks to be a very pleasant forum. I don't expect I'll be a very active poster but will certainly enjoy looking in from time to time.

Briefly, I am the Artistic and General Director of the Center for Contemporary Opera in New York. The Center has been around for over thirty years and produces modern operas in the US and abroad. We also make commercial recordings and publish a magazine focusing on all contemporary music; New Music Connoisseur. Prior to this, I was the director of the Long Leaf Opera Festival in North Carolina. I only sing (badly) in the shower while the bassoon was my professional instrument.

I took an unusual hiatus from music to join the audio industry some years ago. I was president of Spectron Electronics for a spell and then joined Cambridge Signal Technologies to help bring about the very first USB-DAC in 2000 under the Stereo-link trade name.

Once you get the "bug", it is hard to stop and I have been interested in audio gear since my undergrad days forty years ago. Our hobby has been a great source of pleasure throughout my lifetime.

Good listening,

Jim Schaeffer

Welcome to you Jim. We have a number of members with strong interest in Opera. That and your former experience with USB DACs will be quite welcome here.
