Good Day,
I'm sorry to report that JRiver's servers were recently attacked and partially compromised. No credit card information was lost (we don't save any), but e-mail addresses probably were, and possibly passwords, although these were heavily encrypted. You should change your password for the forum here: Profile > Account Settings License passwords can be changed if you purchase in the future -- they are only used for changing your e-mail address. You can read more on Interact.

We have spent the last few weeks recovering from this catastrophic event. If you have experienced problems with Media Network, cover art lookup, CD ripping, or other functions that use our servers, this break-in is probably the reason. All problems are fixed now.

We're also sorry if you experienced a failure when you tried to purchase a new license or upgrade an old one. If you're willing to try again, here is a coupon that will save you $10 on a new or upgrade license during September: MEACULPA ($10 Coupon). Enter the coupon during purchase and confirm that the price is correct.

We offer our sincere apologies. It was our fault, and we're embarrassed about it. You can be sure that we are much better prepared to defend our servers now.

That's the bad news.

The Rest is Good News

Although we lost a month of development time, there are still many improvements in JRiver Media Center 24. We're now on build 52, so it's come a long way since April.

What's New
Radio -- Both Radio Paradise and Radio JRiver offer new FLAC lossless streaming. These are the highest quality streams available. Genres include rock, classical, eclectic, and jazz.

Panel is JRiver's new web app remote. It's built into JRiver Media Center, so you can access MC from any device with a browser. It's simple, good looking, and touch friendly. It adapts to any screen size. It's the ideal way to play the new radio streams with just a couple of clicks.

There are many more details in the Developer section below.

What's Old
We have some old features that you may not know about. Did you know that you can Modify the JRiver GUI? Here are four examples.

Going to the Doctor
Play Doctor is pure genius. Select a few tracks, right click and Play with Play Doctor. It chooses other similar music for you. It learns from your skips. It's an easy way to play your favorites, including some you've probably forgotten.

Developer Notes
Our developers report on their work in MC24.

Yaobing: Closed Captioning support for ATSC/CableCARD tuners (will be available soon). Improved OTA EPG scanning (more efficient for ATSC, and fixed a bug that prevented DVB-C scanning from working). Better SACD ISO support, including support for Foobar sidecars. Sidecars for non-video media. Sat>IP channels can be scanned directly from transport stream, so there is no need to rely on server provided channel list file. Post-TV-Recording command execution.
Hendrik: JRiver WDM Driver Improvements: The JRiver WDM Driver is now fully supported on Windows 10 and has been greatly improved when streaming high-res audio. The WDM driver allows you to stream the audio from any other application through Media Center, including high-resolution audio, fully bit-exact in exclusive mode. Stream Spotify, Tidal, or any other music streaming service, and send the audio to Media Center to enjoy its state of the art DSP capabilities.

Blu-ray, UltraHD/4K and HDR support. Media Center 24 supports playback of decrypted Blu-ray discs, UltraHD Blu-ray discs with Menus, and High-Dynamic Range (HDR)! Enjoy the full range of 4K HDR content with our Red October HQ Video Player, as well as bitstreaming all HD Audio Codecs, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X immersive audio. Even more improvements are in the pipeline to improve the quality of HDR content on normal screens and projectors, as well as improved performance on small systems.

Matt: JRiver has added a high quality (it's lossless) capability to listen to a mixture of classic rock and other genres. Just use Streaming > Radio Paradise or Radio JRiver and enjoy.

Bob: Implemented WOL (Wake on Lan) to DLNA renderer. Pix01: bigger galleries, more secure, Linux: Direct DSD support, internal web browser. Id: Airplay support.

Brad: Panel: User interface improvements include improved ways to browse through categories, better tracking for current track in Playing Now, ability to disable forced audio conversion to play other html5 supported audio formats like FLAC, as well as allowing time seeking, new streaming section for Radio Paradise and Radio JRiver, integration of system controls.

John: Retina display fixes for Mac. Font sizing problem, resizing dialogs. Work on the Radio JRiver backend.

Thanks for your support.

Warm Regards,

JRiver
