I just bought a used Tron 211 stereo amplifer. It’s an earlier one having been updated with Interstage transformer and internals to match closely to latest model. Its rated at 12w per channel, I currently also have Miyajima 2010 OTL mono’s used with Herron Audio VTSP 360 ESP Reference preamp and VTPH-2a phono preamp, SW1X DAC III SPX, TotalDac D1 Streamer, SOTA Nova table with Ana Might Sound TNT 15A Copper MC Cartridge. My speakers are MHorns Mummy V3 speakers at 93db efficiency. Now that I got all that out of the way, the Miyajima’s sound fantastic with the MHorns. I am looking for 211 tubes to try, what the expections are from a 211 amp? I have owned many 300b, 45 and 2a3 amps over the years but have never tried on of the larger tube SET amps.

Thanks for any input…

Don

I have used/use 211 amps and tubes for years with various speakers.
I am not familiar with the Tron 211 stereo amp so can’t comment on what to expect from that amp. I do have a Tron Syren GT preamp and know Graham does great work.
There are some great 211 tube choices and these are the ones I currently have/use
211GE vt 4c
Elrog 211 and 242 (molybdenum) I prefer the 242 but the price is dear
STC 242 a there is both a Spanish and English version, they sound different
Amperex 211
Telefunken RS237
I don’t think you can go wrong with any of these and the price and availability varies quite a bit so that is a factor
My personal favorites are the Amperex, Elrog 242 and Tele RS237
I have heard nice things about the AN4242e but have no personal experience with those.
I think you will enjoy the 211 and your system seems well capable of letting them sing

Thank you for the response. The amp comes with a pair of the GE 211 VT4c tubes and I am picking up a pair of Amperex 211’s from a good friend of mine here in town. I will have the amp most likely after Thanksgiving and I am looking foward to how it compares to the Miyajima OTL’s which I am never going to get rid of. I love your setup what are the Speakers in the photo?IMG_5255.jpeg
