I just built a pair of replica Klipsch Cornwall III speakers to factory specs using factory drivers and crossovers. The cabinets are Baltic birch veneered in waterfall bubinga.
I am very happy with how they turned out and they do sound very good. It is amazing what my 2A3 with 3 1/2 watts can do with these. They can play louder than you would want to stay in the room. I do love horns and these have the signature open airy sound with great mid depth and superb imaging.
Klipsch Cornwalls were my first entry into serious audio -- about 1973 if I recall correctly. When they showed up at home, I thought my wife was going to have a stroke !!
Unfortunately, I got these prior to understanding anything about room acoustics (or treatment) and they really never had a chance to sound great. In the original very open room (in my very first home), I really liked them but where they ended up (2nd home), not so much. That room was (drum roll please) ......... 16 x 16 x 8. Boomiest bass I ever heard. BUT, as a result of owning these, I started to explore the whole high end thing and started down that road... it was an awesome ride. One of the things we did was about 4 of us drove to Hope, Arkansas (lived in Dallas at the time) to meet with Paul Klipsch. Got to see a full version of the Klipschorn done in acrylic.
And GREAT job on these. Beautiful work. Brings back many fond memories.
