Hi -
I recently came into these, mounted on the wall for rear channel. I don't know the model, I do note the only connections are the positive and negative wires coming from them, not a fused plate. Seems like the highs and mids work (with seemingly eat the power like all Maggies) , but there is no bass coming from them at all ... these aren't a thousand years old, so I assume that they're working as designed? Anyone have any familiarity with these at all? I cannot find a model number on them. I appreciate any thoughts, I can't find much on them on the net.

There should be a model number on a plate on the back when you rotate out from the wall. Magnepan created a small wall model, the MMG-W, that is a one-way (single diaphragm) speaker, and MC-1, a two-way model. (Also an MC-2, but those are rare.) If you shine a light on (or through) the speakers you should be able to see if they have one continuous diaphragm or if it is split into two parts. The MC-1 is about four feet tall (46" per MUG) and the MMG-W is only 38" (about three feet) tall so that is another way to tell.

Neither had much bass, with low-frequency specs of 100 and 80 Hz respectively, and I think those were generous. I would guess they are working as designed (and need a sub).

Thanks, Don! The metal plates only say Magneplanar Loudspeakers on them, I measure 45".

Probably MC-1s then, which have a bass and treble section, but still bass falls off below about 100 Hz IME (spec is 80 Hz).
