My mom was a professional pianist. We always had music playing in the house. My Dad and older brother built amplifier kits from Allied audio in Seattle. Heathkits and stuff like that. In the early sixties my brother purchased an Empire Troubador turntable, which at the time (1962) cost close to $400!
Then he added on an HH Scott tube amp, and built refrigerator sized speakers using top of the line Electro voice components. Great sound! I was hooked! This was about the time olf the "British Invasion"... Beatles, Kinks, Stones --- the rest is history.
