Just read in 2009, Oklahoma had 50 earthquakes; last year, 1047, the start of a 50-year cycle of more intense activity. This matters to me because my sister lives outside Meeker, about 5 miles from the epicenter of the most recent quakes. They have severe damage to their home, no earthquake insurance (in OK? who'd'a thought), and since the damage is not wide-spread no gov't help. Ouch.

Tonight, another 4.7 quake. And tornadoes. Oh yeah, their insurance does cover tornadoes...

Haven't listened to my system tonight, practicing and watching the USGS reports.

Has there been any investigations that these are linked to hydraulic fracturing/shale fracking?
I did a quick search and found a few that suggest it is, but these do not seem to be the best for reliability.
Reason I ask is that I remember hearing about this after we had our own unique characteristic earthquake near Blackpool, which is tied into shale fracking as well.

Downside is if the cause is linked to this, pain in backside for a community to sue.
Cheers

Musta flipped a lot of cow pies over.

Cute. I'll laugh later... They may have lost one of their prize stallions... And their house has much worse damage than they originally thought (brick house). The barn and outbuildings (wood) held up better, as is usual in earthquakes.

Sorry, didn't notice the personal note in the first anecdote, thought it was a news announcement. I am sorry for your sister's loss.

There is so much shadenfreude from the rest of the country toward California because of their earthquakes, I thought it was catch up time.
