I could use some helpful input...I have a pair of Perlisten S7t speakers on the way. I currently have a 12-year old cosmetically and functionally pristine Dan D'Agostino Momentum S200 amp. I have a BNIB Boulder 1161 on the way. I had planned to pair the Perlisten and Boulder but as I wait I keep looking at the DAG and it is so beautiful...
Has anyone paired these or similar Boulder/DAG amps with the Perlisten so that you could give me an idea as to which amp to keep?
Based on the one time I heard those speakers, I would choose whichever amp sounds warmer. I heard the Perlisten S7T speakers in a treated room with a D'ag Momentum integrated and it was too bright and bass-shy for me but maybe that sound was because of the room.
I compared dag progression to Boulder 1110/1160/1161 about a year and a half ago using Wilson Alexia’s. The dag was warmer to my ears the Boulder more detailed with greater clarity. On the Alexia’s there was a big difference between the 1160 and 1161; the latter sounding a bit thin. Haven’t heard Perlisten speakers at all so no idea how they will interact with those.
With an efficiency rating of 92.2 I chose a great deal on a NIB 1161 over the 1160. I have several people who say the pairing is excellent. Amp arrives tomorrow and dealer delivers and sets up the speakers on Saturday. Thanks for the input.

To my mind (and ears) the watts (sensitivity) matter far less than the current (speaker impedance/phase). I suspect why the difference between the 1160 and 1161 is so stark on the Alexia is that they have a big impedance drop in the midbass, to around 2.5 ohms, along with a steep phase angle. That makes them very current hungry if you want good controlled bass. And that was the big delta, the 1161 sounded thin whereas the 1160, with it's much larger power reserves, did not.
If your speaker doesn't have that problem then the 1161 could easily be enough. Which is a good thing because 1) the 1161 is a lot cheaper and 2) it's something that can be moved around by a single person whereas the 1160 is not.
Looking at the measurements of your speaker it does have some impedance drops combined with high phase, so it could get well get current hungry. On the other hand it's 3db more sensitive than my Alexia 2's, so it will be pulling a lot less power at the same SPL. How much you will miss the extra reserves of the 1160 will probably depend on how loud you listen.

This is a strange field: Heard the top Perlisten (Hegel gear) and they were the most rolled off and lfat sounding thing I have evr heard. Nothing above 3-4KHz subjectively. DOA. The dealership owner did not disagree.
Rangda...the size and weight were a consideration in choosing the 1161 over the 1160. At 65 years of age, my head banging days are over. I'm open to being surprised, but I suspect 350 watts into 4 ohms is enough to drive these speakers adequately.
As to the S7t being bright, bass-shy, flat, rolled off...I suspect a lot has to do with a room, acoustic treatment, and the equipment around the speaker. We shall see...
I'm not far behind you at 59. My wife (bad knees) and I (bad back) barely got the 1160 (135 lb. out of its crate) up the stairs (4 steps) in the garage. I don't want to have to do it again. And its only going to get worse over the years as we age more.
Wow! Both of you, with a bad back and bad knees, are still way stronger than most. My 20-a old son helped me move the 1161…I lifted it by myself, but it was helpful to have him assist. We would have struggled with the 1160.
My amp arrived yesterday. I called Boulder with the serial number to get the manufacturing date. Get this…3/21/25. I believe these are discontinued. If so, I am guessing I got one of the last ones made?

The 1160 has been replaced by the 1162 and the 1161 has been replaced by the 1163. The replacements are full class A using sliding bias, presumably in a similar manner as the 2000 and 3000 series. I'm afraid to hear the 1162.

I am using the dartzeel front end with the perlisten s7t limited. Best sound I have had in my room. Always slightly wondering about optimum amplification. These speakers have very low distortion with high resolution. Perlisten uses audia flight at the shows. A bit more power than the Darts.
