Most Significant Product Introduction By Alan Sircom tas av/guide
The new ElectroMotion series from MartinLogan has already picked up an Innovation award from the Elders of the CES. The slim, full-range hybrid electrostatic loudspeaker delivers the beautiful open midrange of the breed, and not far removed from the company’s new Theos model, but costs just $2,000. Expect them to sell bazillions.

Hi

Are we seeing a (welcome) trend toward sanity, the Maggie 3.7, then this ML? Why is it that this from the planar people? Intersting

In Martin Logan's case, it would seem to be a deliberate attempt to appeal to a larger market, as well, perhaps, as an effort to synergize with Paradigm - Shorview Industries' other audio company. Shoreview acquired ML back in '05 when Gayle retired.

and some reported specs for the EM ESL mains, courtesy of roberto over @ MLC:

Much smaller panel (~292 in.sq) than the Vantage/Vista (372 in.sq), slightly larger than the Purity/Source (241 in.sq). 35 1/2 pounds?! Boy, this thing is light!
