I prize midrange so I run dual-mono class A amplification using a valve preamp with solid state power feeding 2.5 way speakers. I have tried to minimize mechanical, electrical and acoustic anomalies.
Sources include a VPI HW-19 Mk IV turntable with suspension mods and a Sota Total Eclipse SAMA riding on a Black Diamond Racing Shelf for the Source. The tonearm is a modified Eminent Technology high-pressure ET2 running a DS Audio S003 cartridge. Digital is via a Playback Designs MPD-8 DAC with P-link optical interface fed by a Roon Nucleus Plus server running Qobuz. These connect to a Vinnie Rossie L2S preamp with Takasuki or Western Electric 300Bs. The signal is split by a JL Audio CR-1 crossover which feeds two Pass XA 60.8 amplifiers and two Dayton SA-1000 subwoofer amps. The Pass amps drive bi-wired Wilson-Benesch ACT 3zero speakers on Townshend isolation podia. The Daytons go to a James Romeyn/Duke LeJeune subwoofer Swarm on Isoacoustics Gaias. Racks are SolidSteel, one vintage, one new. Cables are by Empirical Design. Three dedicated circuits are preceded at the panel by an Environmental Potentials 2050EE whole house surge protector. Room treatment is Vicoustics and GIF. Acoustic assist by UMIK/REW.
