I've run the 104 MK2 on my Lampi TRP briefly.
I currently am running the 1002 with the TRP.
When I first was looking into the STR units it took me a while to wrap my head around what it is and what it's doing. It wasn't until I actually had it in my system that I really "got it" in two ways. First, it raised the enjoyment I get from listening to music in my system significantly.
Second and more to the point. The STR is a fancy tube adapter. That's it. So, really the question should be about the tubes you plan on running. I've found that I prefer the sound of the 845s over that of the 300Bs run for rectification. To be fair I haven't run the same caliber of 300Bs as I have 845s.
I find the 4 pin jumbo tubes (211, 805 and 845) all have qualities I haven't heard with traditional rectifiers that I really enjoy.
I ordered a few adapters for the STR 1002 so I can run 5v UX4 socketed tubes. I also have adapters so I can run 5v octal rectifiers too.
