HI All,
I've been a member for about 1 week. I have spent a fair amount of time becomming familiar with the forum organization. I've also made a few posts and started a few threads. I have some initial thoughts:

This is a GREAT FORUM!!!

Thank you so much for setting it up. Clearly some one has spent a lot of time organizing it. It's the best one I have seen. All that, plus, I detect an unusual level of knowledge and ability among the forum members.

I plan to learn a lot here. I hope to be able to make a contribuution but it's not going to be easy.

Hey guys

Thanks for the kudos. We were just determined to learn from the mistakes of other fora and create the best site for what we wanted to do.
I'm typing this on my iPhone at the Alameda County Fair waiting for Blue Oyster Cult

I have seen Blue Oyster Cult in concert before and they are very good.

Just got home. They were rocking to a more than full house which is the first time I have ever seen the amphitheater at the fairgrounds full.

They were fantastic. Mainly played instrumental but when they sang the house came down. Unfortunately we were at the early show (6:00) and it was only 50 minutes including the encore

These guys can really jam. I have never heard them prior to this. My wife was more familiar with their music than I was and she said they were great

We were dead center half way back and each time I hear a live concert there is never a doubt in my mind that no matter how great one's system is it will never sound like the live event

Any how sorry to be off topic and again thanks for the kudos

The good news is that once we FINALLY get to the point where we recognize that, it is a lot more likely (for some) to quit blowing money looking for the holy grail.

I celebrated a REALLY big birthday this past Saturday (in my home) and my wife surprised me in a wonderful way by hiring a live 3 piece jazz combo !!! They set up on a walkway that runs across two upstairs bedrooms. An audio buddy of mine was in attendance (he has a spectacular system in a spectacular room) and his comment pretty much summed it up: "when compared to live, even the best audio system pretty much sucks".

Hi Sparky,

I'm a member of a couple of other forums but I must say this is the place I go when my brain needs exercise. :)

HI All,
How could anybody disagree? Real is real. It's the best. By far.

But that doesn't discourage me from doing my best for my home sound. After all, we have a treasure of music at our finger tips we can listen to any time. So, to me, it makes sense to make it good. I think most of you agree or you would not be on this forum or pouring money into our systems and music collections.
