I know this is mostly an audio forum. But since video is not as far a stretch as basketball (another popular forum topic) I thought this editorial was very thought provoking. Did you know that only 1/3rd of the DVDs ever made are available on streaming? The others? Well, good luck. Hmmm....

Thanks. This points to several issues with streaming vs. CD as well. Many albums not available and no guarantee of a quality mastering just like you might not get a great transfer or deluxe (Criterion etc.) transfer of a movie.

I am all for with owning media, LP, Tape, Silver disc audio/video. I have been picking up a few 4K blu-rays for movies I like. Streaming is here and the sole future, but as we become dependent on streaming the owners of media will tighten their grip. It makes good business sense. The lowest common denominator applies. A 4K player is not expensive or even a back-up player.
