Watch it and weep if you don't live in US:

I am already packing my bags and have put the house up on sale so that we can go live in the beautiful state of Idaho. I bet you have never seen candidates or a powerful debate like this. I have to be where they allow this. Not sure what the voting rules are but I am hoping I can vote the Biker guy as governor and the other dude with 77 offsprings as the lieutenant governor. I don't ride a bike and I don't hunt. But after seeing this, I am going to do both. Would be fun to clear cut the forest and be able to hunt wolves without having to put a tag on them. And oh, I want them "potassium" whatnot medicine that guards against radiation.

Couldn't be more proud to be an American....

And no, this doesn't violate our recent rules to not talk about politics. We are going to make an exception.

Proud to be an American... Oh, I already said that....

The writers at Saturday Nite Live couldn't put together a better skit. Those guys are nutcases for sure, but before we disparage Idaho too much we should take a minute to consider what we are really watching here. It's something we all claim we want, but rarely see, a free and open election.

At least with those guys, what you see is what you get. :D

Kudos to the League of Women Voters and especially the young lady running the debate forum. As they say 'you can't make this stuff up'.
Thanks for posting this.

Indeed. My "worry" when posting this video was that people would think it is an SNL episode not real life. I just can't imagine what went on in the moderator's heads in asking those questions and acting seriously. I would be on the floor laughing. Kudos to their professionalism.

I think we would require each one of them talking for 8 to 10 hours to know what we will get. :D

Hey at least they have some kind of charisma :)
Notice the video omits the two actual politicians; bah they were probably bland and the definition of mediocre.
While in jest, a serious and troubling trend is that we want (or given) modern day politicans who study PPE (Philosophy,Politics,Economics), actively involved while at University with the junior side of the political party, become a research assistant to a voted party member, stick ones nose where the sun does not shine, and finally be on the first step of being put forward in a contested area.

So yeah give me the guy with 77 generations lol.
Ok maybe not, but I do not want our current trend of PPE then straight out of university into a union-political party-public position such as civil servant, without experiencing the hard knocks of real world jobs and the business-project decisions and experience they provide.

Cheers

Idaho is really two states: North and South. The South is relatively normal. The North is where all the Aryan racists, KKK, separatists, survivalists, and that sort of ilk live. Once had a very interesting cab ride at CES with a cab driver who was an ex-cop from Idaho. Wish I could have taped that.

I feel the same way about canadians when I think of rob ford! And unlike those gentlemen he's an elected official representing the nation!

I feel the same way about canadians when I think of rob ford! And unlike those gentlemen you elected him!

Good point Robs only saving grace is he did lower dept one of the only mayors to do that. They might even re elect him and he put Toronto on the map, a big brown spot on the map mind you. Lets put the three of these guys in a room Larry, moe and Curly joe reborn.

Idaho is a haven for ex-cops. That's where Mark Fuhrman ended up.

The mayor of Toronto is back from Re hab and back on the job all is right with the world.

Maybe we should set up a pool based on when he will relapse.
