Tonearm wire, silver or copper?

Interesting read!

I will bring my Basis Turntable with AirTangent 10b back to my system in the next weeks.
I consider a new continuous wiring from pickup clips without interruption to the rca plugs of my phono stage.

Low impedance low output MY Sonic Lab Hyper Eminent …

What would you recommend?

The Kondo silver tonearm wire consists of four strands of 0.09mm silver wire. It can be used in its stock form, with all four wires stranded together, or untwisted, allowing each extremely thin wire to be used individually.

Each thin wire is varnished separately, providing insulation. If you choose to use the wires untwisted, you can wire four tonearms instead of one.
Yes, its the An-AI like that, that I use. I find it very very good.

Finally got my two special order 1.0m tonearm wires back, using Zavfino 1877 76-Litz ultra thin strands, WBT-0152 Next Gen RCAs, Alphason Audio Pin-Jacks.
One copper, one silver.
Nicely made up for me by Z: Axis Audio head honcho (member UK Paul on this forum).

Installed the copper wire first.
Popped it in my system, nothing optimised about setup, zero hours on the clock.
Yet despite these potential drawbacks, something very special indeed is going on.
Compared to my previous pretty reasonable silver wire, this copper one seems better across the board.
First of all, tonality is fuller and lusher, only a smidge less sparkle at the top end.
But I fully expect this to correct itself after maybe 100-150 LPs played.
Resolution is better across the board.
Playing John McLaughlin's "Belo Horizonte" has always been a strung out affair, thin tonally, not much body and ambient detail/cues.
Playing it with the new wire shows the album to have a lot of multilayered detail, and warmth I never had a hint of.
My thanks again go to Paul for this very late bonus in maxxing system evolution and a sound wholly more natural and immersive.

Pleased it has all worked out positively for you Marc; these are always very finicky wires to work with, the Silver especially, but testing these myself for just a few hours on the VIV Labs / Phaedrus Flight system, the direct connection to the phono from the cart pins (albeit not optimal wire dressing) certainly hinted at an excellent tonal and dynamic presentation, quite a lively or chirpy as Mrs put it.. Swapping out copper to Silver, there was a couple of days in between, but the same feeling of dynamics being perhaps more youthful, but with a great balance tonally, and thankfully zero noise pick up which was an initial concern. Going back to internally wired, and my SL 832 phono cables brought the familiarity of back, plenty of weight and solid instrument placement but maybe just a fraction less zip and sparkle.

It gives me some good data for when I eventually finalise the design of my own tonearm which I may well offer direct connection if I can route / dress the wiring neatly and effectively.

Let us know how the Silver compares btw..

I don't dare swap it out, Paul, the copper wire is *that* good!
Seriously, I likely need at least 150-200 LPs on the clock, to hear the copper wire at its very best.
Gotta love our erstwhile non-audiophile listeners and collaborators.
Not for them "black backgrounds" but "chirpy", lol.
For me, my fear on going from silver to copper was a suspicion of finishing up with too much richness (bloat?) and smoothing off resolution.
Other than a *hint* of more warmth than absolutely ideal, I'm certainly detecting no shortfall in detail resolution.
Jazz drumkit cymbals presentation better than ever.
Good to hear that your testing observations mainly match mine.
