A Saturday night tube rolling night with the Tektron 2A3/45i.

It involves (warning....I've already been drinking):

- French vodka mixed with a carbonated French lemonade:
- My playlist on Qobuz;
- Tektron 2A3/45i amp from the fantastic Corbys Audio;
- And NOS Sylvania and RCA 2A3 tubes to compare to the factory EH's.

Who do you think will win? Factory EH, NOS RCA's or NOS Sylvania's?

I've got two pairs down and one to go!

I think the French vodka will win. I buy mine by the 6-pack from Costco. Not kidding. I don't buy Grey Goose anymore.

The EH single plates are surprisingly good, but my 1940's spring top double plate RCA's have that creamy RCA sound. Haven't tried Sylvania.

Does the 2a3 have enough drive for your Tobian's? 45?

It is surprisingly powerful with most music types - opera, old Louis Armstrong, Etta and more.

Where it runs out of steam quickly is with the bass-heavy vocal trance which is to be expected.

I’m currently using 300b with my 15FH, with pretty good results. I do find there are benefits with more drive down low from a 45 watt PSET amp and the hybrid Riviera Levante, but the lower power DHT SET provides the most magic overall. Curious to hear more about your upcoming demo’s, especially the Tobian integrated. Which one, VR40 or VR50?
