One of WBF’s members (User name omitted) posted a sale for a number of tubes that he bought from Brent Jessee. He said he had not used them and wasn’t going to so he wanted to sell them. We have all been there.

He and I agreed to a price for 2 pair. I paid him and he promptly shipped them. When I got them I tested them and both pair tested poorly on my Amplitrex AT1000. One pair tested unevenly (83% / 54%). The other tested at (34%/ 34%). The seller said he did not have a tester and didn’t test them prior to shipping. I contacted Brent Jessee and he was surprised (as was I) since he is one of the better tube sellers out there.

I wrote the seller and asked for a refund since the tubes are not useable. He is saying it is my issue since he sent me what he said he would, tubes bought from Brent Jessee. He offered me $40 (not sure what this is supposed to represent other than making my go away since I would then have only lost $150 instead of $40).

I occasionally sell tubes on ebay and will take anything back that doesn’t work as represented. It is rare but I consider it the price of doing business.

So, who is the responsible party here? Should the seller be refunding my money or is this my bad luck?

The WBF is not a place to air out grievances or openly dispute things between disagreements. With that said, the moderation team will discuss whether or not the posts that were temporarily deleted will be reinstated. For now they have been removed and the thread locked, until the team has all had a chance to chime in with their thoughts/decision on moving forward.

This is an unfortunate situation.
