Many businesses and historical landmarks brag about how they are the oldest "continuously" running this and that. So thought it would be cool to see how has the longest working piece of audio electronics. This by definition advantages older folks here :). But let's run with it.

My oldest running gears are two:

1. Optonica integrated amp. Bought it in around 1978-1980 so it is going on 30 years. It now sits in the garage and plays music for me when I am woodworking. It is fed by an Akai FM radio that is nearly that old. It is built like a tank with multiple massive power supplies. This is kind of what it looks like:

2. While not strictly an Audio equipment, my Yaesu short-wave radio goes back a couple of years from above.

So what vintage gear have you had which has not required any service and still going on strong?

Does a Nakamichi clock radio I bought back in 1980 for my mother and she didn't want, count? :)

My revox b-77/avatar w/ no mods and no repairs or maintenance -all original, although use has been light

Hafler DH101 preamp and DH200 amp...circa 1978

It is a stretch like my #2 item :).

Then the answer is my Altis Audio CDT-3 transport and Reference DAC :) Dates back to late '90s.

And probably never used!

LOL...actually did for a while. No it's not quite that car driven by that little old lady from Pasadena :) About two or three years ago, acquired some new Tel ECC82s for the Altis DAC with the intent of firing it up again. Still haven't gotten around to it. Some day....maybe in 2012 :)

The funny thing was I was thinking it was exactly the car driven by the little old lady from Pasadena!

Radio Shack Realistic Minimus-7 speakers?

Radio Shack RMS Watts Level meter?

Marantz analog Tuner?

* They all have been at it for quite some time now. :b ...Among few others.

RMS meter doesn't count Bob. I created the thread, I will be the judge! :D

The analog tuner counts. When did you get it?

Ok, I'll cheat a bit...let me explain.

Product is a Pioneer SA-9500II Integrated Amp, perfect working condition. It was stored for 15 years and stolen in the end. Purchased another one and using it now. Ok, ok, I know that's stretching it. Also had a Kenwood KT-8007 tuner that suffered the same fate. Both units were purchased around 1976-1977.

You're right Amir; my RS meter doesn't make any sound of its own;
it simply tells me how many Watts (RMS) are coming from my speakers (8 Ohms or 4 Ohms). :b

My Marantz model 104 analog tuner just needs new lights (for FM, AM, & Stereo), but they are not that easy to find, and God did I try to! I got that one back in '77 I believe, while traveling ('travelling' is also good) through New York.
So about 35 years.

* But I know some folks with much older tube radios (from the 40s), and still playing them! :p ;)

Though one of my sons has them now, too my knowledge they still function...

Sansui AU777, TU777. Picked up on my first Med cruise 67. I'll ask him on the weekend.

Those worked well with AR4's, AR2AX's, then AR3's. The 3's could use more juice so I got a couple of Carver cubes, then a Carver Receiver. Sons have those too! Not sure on the stati.

OOps I have to modify that date.....
First med in 67' was a Sony reel to reel, 2nd Med in 69' was the Sansui gear. Sorry about that.

My VPI HW19MKII and ET2, bought together brand new in 1987. I saw how the TT and tonearm dealer set it up. We started 4pm, and it went on till dinner time I had to call some food delivery service, and we had music playing on them around 9pm. I got tired watching them. 24 years later, I still use them with my 5th or 6th cartridge. The longer they stay with me, the harder it is for me to part with them. It's like an old work horse.
