For sale ar two spectacular tube sets for the Lampizator Horizon. As most Horizon owners know, almost any tube will sound good in the Horizon. But there are some combinations that have synergy and can be found at a very modest cost that compete with any top dollar set you can name. Frankly, I have more sets that I can use in my lifetime so its time to sell some. The tubes here have superb reviews alone but in combination they create a synergy that is just marvelous. Many Horizon owners have spent thousands of dollars on ridiculously expensive tubes only to learn that their performance does not necessarily exceed the stock tubes that Lampizator provides. These nearly identical sets provide extremely reasonably priced tubes that are sonically superb and approaches the performance of uber expensive and rare tubes at a fraction of their price.
Here's what you get:

To begin, the key to the Horizon’s performance is the triode. Fortunately, the family of 6SN7 triodes has been with us for decades and virtually every tube that can be used for this purpose has been well reviewed by knowledgeable hobbyists across a wide variety of publications. A widely respected tube aficionado who has tried virtually every 6SN7 out there is Robert Hutton. Although Robert has passed, he thought the finest 6SN7 out there was the famed 1951 Hytron (prior to their merger with CBS). You. Can read about his observations here:
These Hytrons are new-in-box, matched and rare as hell.

Next up is a work horse regulator, the legendary RCA JAN CRC SR4GY, military issue tubes. Black plates, hanging filament supports, with the lower silvering, dual D-getter, brown micanol base. Tested on a Hickok TV-3 military been calibrated. Firm bases, excellent silvering. Tubes test at 168-167 and 167-166 where pass/fail is 80. These are relative numbers and do not indicate percentages. Tubes have the same exact structure out, having matching date codes of "V3E", May-June 1945, wartime manufacture. If you don't have the budget for a Western Electric 274B tube, these are the closest practical tubes you can come to the 274B. Just excellent.

Finally, there are the pentodes. One set offers the universally praised Mullard EL-34. These are XF2 variants and are NOS, matched and simply superb. The 2nd set offers the excellent Tesla 4654 (with adapters). Which to pick? That’s a hard call. What I would say is that if classical piano is what makes you tick, the Mullards may be the way to go. For bigger orchestral and rock, The Tesla’s are just excellent. No right or wrong here. More like vanilla, strawberry or chocolate.

The price of the NIB 51 Hytrons if you can find them, would be about $350/pair on ebay. The NIB RCA SR4GYs, again, if can you can find them, would be about $350/pair as well. The Mullard EL-34s can be found for about $500/pr and the Tesla 4654 (original Czech factory) tubes can be found for about $250/pair. (The adapters sell for about $25 each)

I am selling the set that contains the Mullards for $600. The set that contains the Teslas are being offered for $450. These is an incredible buy and will be sold quickly.
I will put this set up against any Horizon set out there at any price. When it comes to tube rolling for the Horizon, there is no best, but rather, vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. No matter how you look at is, this is darned good ice cream at a great price!!

Paypal adds 3%. Shipping anywhere to continental US is $30 per tube set.
