Could you suggest me please some CD transports with AT&T output?
I have a short list but there is a big risk if they got damaged as the spare parts are out of production since many years
Mark Levinson 37, 31, 31.5
Wadia WT3200, WT2000
Sonic Frontiers
EAD T1000
....

Any other more recent options?
thanks

Weiss Engineering Jason Transport. I have one but it is no longer in production.

Aqua la diva II Philips cd2 pro transport

If you get the latest 31.5 (make sure it is not an upgrade from 31, with the older CDM12IND drive) you can easily swap the Philips CDPRO2 drive with the latest Philips CDPRO2LF module.

You are replacing not only the laser and motor, but also a complete servoboard, which sould make it run for many years to come. You can also replace the cristal oscillator and a voltage regulator feeding it for next to nothing, which will greatly improve the sonics.

Philips CdPro2 and CdIND are pin to pin replaceable. Basically the same thing with minor upgrades and changes due to environment safety.

Hi and thanks for the reply.
Is the Philips CDPRO2LF available to purchase nowadays?
Unfortunately no.

The CEC TL-1 and TL-1X both provided an ST-optical output. CEC is still manufacturing CD transports using their own belt-drive CD transport http://www.cec-web.co.jp/products/cdplayer/index_e.html but none of the current units have an ST optical output. The CEC TL-1 comes up for sale every so often at about $2500. You may wish to contract them http://www.cec-international.com/and see if parts are still available for the TL-1.

FYI - Many of the Krell Transports such as the DT-10 and MD-20 have an ST optical output, but they have Phillips cd transports with no replacement https://www.dutchaudioclassics.nl/the_complete_d_a_dac_converter_list/. For any consideration of a Krell or Mark Levinson you may wish to contact https://www.georgemeyer-av.com/krell/ who specializes in repair of these brands and see what repair capabilities they have to offer.

I have no direct knowledge of these, but if you cross check with this site https://www.dutchaudioclassics.nl/the_complete_d_a_dac_converter_list/#C you will see what CD mechanism was installed. In general, Phillips stopped manufacture of all CD mechanism some years back and all Phillips CDM-Pro versions are pretty much unattainable. The lower cost and more widely used versions such as the Philips CDM-12.4 you can find NOS for sale. The Teac uses an Esoteric drive and while Esoteric still makes CD players, they stopped selling the CD mechanism to third parties (such as Wadia) many years ago, and whether it's still serviceable is unknown. However, keep in mind that replacing a CD mechanism or just the laser requires someone with the proper tools to align the laser, and that cost can exceed the cost of the used CD drive. FYI - this company specializes in repair and modification of Sonic Frontiers components - https://partsconnexion.com/.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want a CD drive with ST output?

I have a X64.4 Wadia dac with AT&T input, so I wanted to take out the best from it...I don't want to use coaxial connection
But I wanted to find a cd transport that could be serviceable today

FWIW buying a Sonic Frontiers SFT-1 Transport of which one is available today (but no return) available eBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1863737364...1291&msclkid=7b5adeabb92c1aeccc31b9e30a6535a9) and on occasion sold via https://www.usaudiomart.com/ could be a good option BUT NOT without verifying with https://partsconnexion.com/ that they still service them. If they do, buy the Sonic Frontiers and send to them to be refurbished so you get a fully functional unit that should be good for many years. But this will ultimately not be very cheap unless you find a unit that has been recently refurbished.

Another option is playing CD's or burning the CD and play via computer using a Bel Canto uLink (if you can find a used one - no longer in production) https://audiophilestyle.com/ca/reviews/Bel-Canto-Design-uLink-USB-to-S-PDIF-Converter-Review/ and convert USB to ST.

Good Luck

the easiest way is to buy a used wadia digilink 40 then you can use every drive all inputs to st optical output.

@Neil.Antin partsconnections do have the spare parts but they do not sell them, I would need to send them the transport....but I live in Europe, so it's not the easiest thing....

@DasguteOhr thanks, these are unfortunately very rare to find :-(

Yes, the EU location presents a whole different perspective. Had I known, I would not have made the recommendations I did since they were based on US based service shops. You should try to source-out a regional repair shop that services CD players (and likely transports) before purchasing anything because where it can be serviced can drive your decision.

This could be interesting...
otherwise any Bel Canto cd transport with AT&T outputs?
thanks
No knowledge. Although Bel Canto also sold https://www.belcantodesign.com/pdfs/UG_REFLink.pdf and https://www.belcantodesign.com/pdfs/USB_LightLink_2496.pdf with ST output. The USB_Light Link is very small - example https://www.audiogon.com/listings/l...ink-24-96-usb-to-st-at-t-adaptor-computer-usb. Careful with the USB link since there is a S/PDIF only version. Otherwise, this site lists USA and EU for sale items - https://www.hifishark.com/. Stereophile did a review of the BelCanto USB conversion devices - https://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/bel-canto-mlink-ulink-and-ref-link-usb-converters/

Good Luck

If all else fails, you could get a Genesis Digital Lens which should solve your problem and improve the sound at the same time. I have a
late-model unit that has never been used.
