Bryston 14BSST2 vs. McIntosh MC452

Hi Dave
I am very familiar with the Brystons and a 14bsst2 will provide that extra punch you are looking for
I owned the 4bsst,14bsst Classe CA-300/400 ,Pass X-250 and several Krells.
If you are happy with the Bryston sound then the 14 will give you more impact. The 28's I am sure will be overkill from what I see in your picks.
The 452 will have that giant stereo reciever sound with them JBL's.I am not to fond of that sound personally. Many call Krell and Bryston analytical sounding because it does not colour the sound enough to sooth their audio pallat....so to speak.

I see. I am content but I wouldn't say happy with the Bryston sound. I'm looking for a fuller sound with more meat on the bones. The 4BSST isn't giving me that. It's rather lean and dry sounding. Yeah, I don't like it too colored either. A little isn't the end of the world though...

We compared a fully recapped Krell KSA 250 vs 14bsst and the KSA won in our opinion(3 audio buds)
I ownes the 250 and the other has FPB 750mcx mono's and I have 2 600's although one is for sale.
I will use the other in a big active system.I found krell to have the best bass I hsd afordibly heard.Older Mark Levinsons were good also.
The big 1.2K Mcintosh mono's were of a different caliber of amp I thought when I heard them compared to the 500 mono's.
But soince you dont like buying used,I would definetely give the 14 squared a go or a used krell fpb.

Ok, thanks again.

Spectral is the easy answer for speed and detail. They do require some commitment. A good bargain but not inexpensive.
