I am not sure they aim at your mini-speakers as they go down to 16 Hz ... on paper ... They will require us, asudiophiles to listen with truly an open mind. They check many of things the audiophiles community seems not to ike:

Digital
To be honest, I'm pretty much done with audiophilia for the moment, I just want something that sounds good every time and requires zero input from me. As such, if these tick the boxes I'd be very happy! The frequency response alone was enough to pique my interest.

100% agree with all you said. My demo experience mirror waht you said. They are the ultimate party speakers and I can imagine stringing up multiples of them on the walls in a club setting and the club would be good to go!.......and so I finally had the opportunity this week to listen to the phantoms. Please note the plural here as I heard a pair of the silvers run stereo! For all the hype, I must confess I was a little underwhelmed. Before you guys get me wrong, I will say that these speakers rock, absolutely rock the very foundations of the house! And I think for the price and what they can do, they are irreplaceable for their portability, form and funk factors not to belittle the SQ. these, IMO are 'purpose built' for a party like situation and they punch (quite literally) way above their weight. However, they are definitely far from being the last word in transparency, soundstage......et al. But then, I reckon, that's not what they are meant to be in the first place. So, in my view, they 'over deliver' on expectations if we are realistic about what we are buying them for - which I stated earlier in this note. These are an entertainer's dream....no question!!
I did demo them side by side with the Devialet 800 (nothing less mind you) driving a pair of Giya g1s ( again nothing less mind you) and I hope I don't have to articulate my findings through detailed conclusions...... but then the comparison was, admittedly, stark!
Overall, great experience....am I going to buy a pair? Yes, eventually, to keep in my living room and super charge a party! And which I can carry with me in the boot of my car when I am on off on vacation!
Cheers
Sujay
PS: just the sheer amount of technological innovation that the phantoms foster is a revelation in itself. God only knows what we should expect 20 years hence!!
My demo experience is somewhat different.
I'd challenge anyone to put a system together at that price that would come close... any takers?
I think that's a fair comment Whatmore, and I've said myself (here?) that anyone looking to buy in that price range would be mad not to sample them. For me, they just don't have the kind of sound I'm looking for, the mid-range especially doesn't have the kind of open-window magic that I crave, and they never pulled off the trick of making me think I was listening to real performers in real space. Now, that's a subjective assessment based on my preferences, I certainly don't think they're BAD or anything of the sort, in fact I think they're really good at what they do for the money.
They are fun speakers.
