I started out with DH labs a good while ago and still have a couple of pair around here somewhere. But trust me, a solid, as pure as possible copper cable will have the sparkle. I'm the same way. I like that little sparkle on top of the music too, and perhaps my speaker cables provide it. But Acoustic Zen also makes the Reference Matrix silver IC. It's pricey and was a little to bright in my rig. But my speaker wire made everything bigger and I had to turn it down a bit when I first put them in. Audioquest uses stranded pure copper and for the most part, are really good wires. All price points too.
I'm using Acoustic Zen Reference Matrix 2 between ATI amp and Modwright swl 9.0. It'a an all copper wire I've used for a while. I've tried Harmonic Tech, Synergistic Research, and Morrow Audio over the years but always come to AZ. I like the sound of copper IC's . I have Clear Day speaker cables and those are all silver. The combo of tubes and solid state copper and silver works well for me.
If I use only copper cables I miss the sparkle at the top end. I am using DH labs right now. I think they are great
Acoustic Zen doesn't offer such a product, did you by chance mean the Zenwave Audio D4 ICs?Two weeks ago I switched out the Transparent Ultra ICs for Acoustic Zen D4 silver-gold alloy ICs and it was a great improvement in SQ for my system.
YES and Thank you Bill for the correction and DaveC for an exceptional cable.Acoustic Zen doesn't offer such a product, did you by chance mean the Zenwave Audio D4 ICs?
Yup, the D4 is mine... I'm very happy you like it!
Hmm: Do you feel the same about your 'other' cables ?
(RE. " ... Why not offer cheaper plugs? The plugs are key and often more important than the wire with AC power!" )
pj
No.
Also, my AC power cables sound fairly similar to one another and this isn't the case with ALL power cables, just the ones I carry.
