The best way to get rid of the boom is to change the listener position to look into a corner and rotate the speakers and treatments into a corner. Works every time.
Unfortunately, is pretty much impossible to do so....

What Steve suggests can certainly help with mode related issues (and SBIR issues to a lesser extent) - but - the 'boom' generally is more of a decay time curve issue where moderate to broadband bass absorption can help. If you turn the room as suggested, just make sure you trap the corner you are facing and the corner behind you for sure.
You are very right, I have done some decay measurements as Kokomo suggested. And here are the results. I will continue to finish off the bass trap behind the speakers and see what's the progress and see if would need the one behind my listening position also.

My guess is that the back brick wall is part of the issue. I've got two brick walls in my room...the speakers are against one of them and the other brick wall is perpendicular to the speakers a few feet away. It's driven me to distraction trying to get the bass right, well to get much bass at all due to the standing waves.

What worked for me were Vicoustic bass traps in the corners (helped some), very heavy curtains behind the speakers (improved soundstaging, but not bass) and a few of the SR Black boxes (in the brick corner and at the first reflection point on perpendicular brick wall). The black boxes made the biggest difference...they are just compact bass traps and work remarkably well in my situation. Of course, YMMV.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I wonder if you have measurements of your room? What are the dimensions of your room and what standing waves you are having?

Room is 14 x 17 with an open portion to the dining room opposite the back wall of the speakers. Got a cathedral ceiling sloped up to 15', which is open over the living, dining room, kitchen and family room. Haven't measured the bass response as I did the adjustments by ear...no black boxes, no bass, which I assumed was due to standing waves off the two brick walls. Two black boxes and some bass traps in the corners, decent bass. If I were to measure, I imagine I could tune further, but I've reach the limits of WAF in my room treatments (well, with my rig overall...lol).

Forget the mic and room setup for now
Do this in seating positions
Move your seat forward or back 1 foot at a time
Try forward first
Then back mark results
Try the same with speakers take notes
My reason is this it's great to use bass traps but know they effect the rest of the sound
It's always best to treat the entire room as in making the placement of speakers and sitting
Also try to raise the speakers off the floor a bit 4 inches at a time.
Yes traps work but very complex and then you move a few inches and boom may be back.

Hi all.

Just finished the work of the bass trap. My god, that's a big difference! just the top around 80cm of the space. does make a huge difference. I have attached the measurements 1. all the way to the ceiling. 2. 80cm left to the ceiling .

I think the only issue I have now is the decay of the 20-30hz band. Any ideas on how to further control that, if it can be controlled to around 500-600ms that would be perfect.

20-30hz is too low to treat efficiently. Best is to play with positioning either you or your speakers or both.

How about the 100hz and the 50hz?

It seems you have already treated those, work on positioning before further treatment, that is what I think.

I have Giga G1's in a small room 15’ x 23 x 10 ‘. The Giga's put a lot low frequencies in a small room. I tried everything and the thing that worked for me was “ The Black Hole”. I know you don’t want an active solution but it's the only thing that will modify decay times. BagEnd makes an E-Trap that will do the same thing.

The passive solution suggested by Kodomo is working really well, the difference is night and day as suggested by the measurement and also from my listening test. What I have left to do is to work more on thew ceiling reflections and I think I can have sometime to enjoy some music =]

Thank you, is was take from a 2018 (I think) Ford Mustang. First, I would recommend raising them to the Spirit height since the stock height is too low for most listening chairs. Second - keep 2+ feet away from side walls. 3rd - don't employ too much toe - in as I didn't hear any significant benefit since they throw a massively wide sound stage with deliver very even off - axis dispersion. 4th - enjoy, they are one of the most effortless, natural speakers I have ever heard. Once you hear them you realize what many speakers do wrong ;-)

Agree. They are very good instruments to enjoy music.

Hi Master Kodomo, after a while of positioning and employing a quad mono setup, I think I have a set which I can say I can "listen". Will keep everyone updated with measurements and thoughts and update to my setup!

I am very happy to hear all worked out for you. I have helped a few rooms here in the last months and they all worked out vey well and people are happy and enjoying too. These make me happy!
