Source for Nagra Tube DAC

Owners of the Nagra Tube DAC perhaps you can help. I am quite confused.

I have found that my humble Intel NUC running Roon ROCK is as good or even better than dedicated source like Aurender N200 or even a CD transport -- CEC TL5. Only two I have tried so far.

Have you used a dedicated streamer/server or CD transport and extracted higher performance, if so, please tell me your source and the effects it had on the playback. Thanks!

Am wondering if I have to go to a higher price point to actually hear a difference, but it is not so easy here to get a home demo.

Hey @essrand thanks for your post. I use the the NEO Stream which is a streamer, that squeezes every last percentage point of performance to provide high sound resolution. t is a fantastic digital transport, which seems to fit your needs perfectly, this would help with receiving the desired digital output that you are looking for. Pairing this device with your current DAC would make the ultimate duo for very high res. Also, this streamer showcases an optical LAN connection, as it isolates the network from audio setup, something many people here are doing in their systems.

If it is good now…. Then why chase an upgrade?
Or what are you experiencing that is distressing?

I use the Taiko Extreme and the difference is huge, compared to the MacBook Pro running Roon.
