One question @godofwealth , in listening to the La Scala’s, are the lower registers of organ in large orchestral works, or bass drum impacts still satisfactory? Does the transient speed make up for the loss of extension?
@Audio_Karma What's your game here exactly? You were over on the Steve Hoffman forums posting near identical agitprop for this speaker under the username 'highendlover'. I'm just genuinely confused at this point.
"These speakers are Virtually Maintenance-Free, I see you can adjust the tension...
Looks like a great selection.
I love the Viva amps in that red. I've had good experiences with their 211-powered headphone amps.
I'm moving to HCMC later this year and will have to make a trip up to check them out.
Hi Chops, out of curiosity, what changed and caused you to switch back to the AQ CV-8s after finding out about the authenticity of the Tara cables when you had previously said:
“The second change was swapping out the AudioQuest CV-8 (72 volt DBS system) speaker cables with the Tara Labs The One...
This is exactly my experience and buying pattern. The most recent example was a first pressing of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust. It was still in shrink, the vinyl looked visually great, so I picked it up. After cleaning, I put it on and was immediately assaulted by a whooshing sound...
I appear to have incidentally incited a much more visceral response than I had thought possible upon my initial post. I will carefully re-read each post responding to me/analyzing my actions/motivations/experiences and respond where necessary in due course.
Clearly what I thought at the time...
Absolutely an option, and that is how I primarily buy my stuff. Others are less willing to take some of the risk buying used, prefer new, or need some dealer guidance.
Tima, given that the title of the article is 'Does the Audiophile Community Have a Problem?', I figured that events in the larger audiophile community would be game to discuss here. I don't think I implied that the problems I discussed occurred in this forum, but I assume we are all members of...
There many hobbies/areas of interest that fit this description of course. But other hobbies have recognized the demographic trends against them and have tried with varying success to change with the times. Golf had a massive youth outreach program that seems to have at least somewhat worked. I...
Firstly, thank you for the warm welcome all.
Ron, I have a couple possible ideas.
-Have manufacturers of beginner products work with Best Buy to have someone with actual knowledge in store three days a week or something. I've noticed NYC Best Buys have a fair selection but no one with the...
From the perspective of someone much, much younger than most here, I wholeheartedly agree with the headline of the article Marty posted. Breaking it down into more precise problems:
Traditional snobbery - I’ve seen huge amounts of online gatekeeping in the form of dismissal because components...
I currently have the biwire going into the tweeter and the mid input with the jumper from the tweeter to the sub wired out of phase. That improved the sound substantially. I’ve also read that running the biwire into the mid and the bass directly, then jumping to tweeter has worked as well.
I...
Thank you for the links Hear Here. I’ll send an email tonight my time. I’m having more thumping on shut down rather than start up. Perhaps it’s the same problem?
I really like those brackets. They’re the right price too. I’ll try to find a US source for those or something similar.
@Jim Smith...
