This does not solve the prblem of the amps.... the caps are too high and the rectifiers failed, even the CV371. I owned such an amp and I know what I'm writing of. Lokk at the tube data sheets of the rectifiers and than compare the max. cap value in cap-input mode (firrst cap directly at the...

Yes it does.... I owned one 300B amp from Cary (first series) and many rectifiers failded. Lowering the caps to, for example 8uF, solved the problem.

The biggest mistake in the Cary amps is that the first capacitor direct after the rectifier tube is too high - especially when using a 274a rectiver. It should be lowered to my opinion.

    EMT JPA66

The ECC99 is an exceptional tube and I'd recommend to use it (very low plate resistance)... EMT is not any "garage" manufacture and has a reputation paired with deep know how. The advantage of variable adjustment of the cutting curves is, imho, the heart of listening to vinyl and a journey...

David, good luck... I'll cross my fingers, the 45, hard to beat, and owns a fresh sound and when it matches you will enjoy it

Is the 45 ac-filaments, and if yes can you adjust the hum with the pot? BTW, I prefer the 45 over a 2A3 & 50.

David, you're loosing 6dB in power when using a single 2A3 instead of PSE. I think you'll not be happier with a "50" instead of the 2A3 and you should try out some NOS 2A3 before swapping the amp. The PHY-drivers don't go so much deep in the low frequency range but your brain needs only the...

Thx for your reply, I have no experience with your cables you mention so it's not easy to give a recommendation. But I think the best is to try it out and listen (take some time for this)... and maybe you don't like both cables. Important is first the set-up of your XO and then look to the...

yes, and it's a continous work because we are learning with our experience.... still in progress because I will see how it works as 3-way (currently I use the Mid & High on the same amplifier - high with -6dB as well), other point is a line-level with constant impedance and a true active-xo.

Yes, that's correct - I forgot to mention but I thought this is the clear and must not be mentioned. BTW, nice horn setup you have :)
