I too came to the same conclusion and have purchased those caps for the same reason.
I went with 80V instead of 100V. Based on what Gary has said and my measurements, I think they are meant to be 80V.
Will get them in in the next week or 2 hopefully.
I have measured the voltage across the caps an I measure appox 70VDC. Presumably it's +70VDC across 1 rail and -70VDC across the other rail.
Does this seem correct?
So it appears this should have 80V caps but either 100V caps was used, or was replaced at some stage with 100V caps.
The date code...
Maybe upgrade was the wrong word.
But I've seen in the G2 thread that people have recapped their amps, rebuilt their XO, and replaced the switches/knobs etc.
These seems rather inexpensive on the scale of things, so decided to start with the amp.
Hadn't anticipated this 80V/100V problem though.
Picture of the amp below. As I understand it, it's the newer tall version of the amp.
That is correct, this is a G200 not a G2. Which info is conflicting?
I have tried the usual suspects of Digikey, Mouser, and some local suppliers. All have the Kemet in stock and nothing else.
Do you know of a supplier who might stock the caps?
Thanks for the reply Gary,
The GII thread mentions the Nichicon caps, which I can't find in 10000uF 100V.
In fact, the Kemet seems to be the only ones available in that spec.
Since the spec are ok, I will go ahead with those.
Thanks
Hi everyone
After reading the thread about the GII upgrade, I have decided to upgrade my G200, starting with recapping the amp.
I see there are 8 x 10,000uF 100V camps made by Jamicon. I am unable to find a reseller for Jamicon caps, but there are same spec ones with varying prices.
The one I...
