I initiated the visit to AE and I asked audioblazer to come along. I concur with his comments on the Emperor. There are other grounding devices out there but Tripoint seems to have done it better than most if not all. Audiocrack has put part of my comments here earlier. If you have a mega...
Tunes, my X1 arrived yesterday and you will be surprised at what improvement it brings. To me, all C1 users must have the X1! The umbilical cord is 2 metres long, btw.
I find streaming is the best way to go for the C1. Currently, I use a Synology 1813+ and a Qnap for streaming.
More to come on...
I didn't make any comparison as I couldn't given the circumstances. In each of these system, I just listened to the tonal balance, coherence and noise floor. Yes, at this level, there are no bad cables, just personal preference.
Lloyd was right. I mentioned that they were all heard in different systems and there was no way I could A/B them. The owners of these systems are very private people and listening is only by special invitation.
I know you liked your Transparent cables but you must try the Goebel cables. They let everything through unhindered...top, top quality. They must be heard to be believed. I have listened to the top cables from Transparent, MIT, Jorma, Nordost, etc. (in different systems though) and I ended up...
I'm using the TS-269 Pro model. I'm not sure whether it came with DSM 5.0 or not. I have the 1813+ as well but I won't use it for streaming though as the processor is too slow. It takes a while for it to load. Instead, try not to use more than the 4-bay ones. I prefer to use SSDs.
I use 2 NASes, Synology 1813+ and a Qnap. Minimserver only works well with Qnap and not Synology. To carry out DSD streaming, use Qnap with Minimserver. As for Upnp, I use Plugplayer and so far, so good.
Judging by the specs, the Ultra 5s do seem to be overkill for components other than heavy speakers and amps like the Mephisto. But, I trust the results of your experience with the Ultra5s as you are an authority on them.
