I did contribute on the power side - but that was only a small cog in a big wheel, as this was certainly a complex room/ acoustics design (for which I wasn't involved) - but it was very interesting to see it in progress. Key take-away on the power side, was how much each power tweak contributed...
Thank you, Mike and Elliot, for hosting me for a wonderful audition last night. As always, I thoroughly enjoyed the company and the special audio treat. I love that you continue to refine your system, Mike, and strive to achieve that magical illusion of disbelief (coining your words).
Kudos on...
My garage attic is unfinished (no shetrock), so I clamshelled the two halves together and then stretch wrapped them and built a rope hoist system to elevate them to an open bay in the attic, then secured them with shelving racks. worked very well.
Exactly. When one fine tunes and matches the bias of such amps, they need to insure they achieve a minimum internal temperature, and that's three different temperature points for the Mephisto monoblocks. Extracting that convected heat from the room is the key (unless it's winter time).
Thanks Lloyd. I use those for any device where a fan is necessary, and you're right, they're quiet. The problem is that even with the fans, the heat builds up in the room. I have considered a clear acrylic "hat" - positioned slightly above the amps, collecting the heat, and exhausting it outside...
Wonderful post #597, Marty! Very well articulated. I have the same monoblocks, and over the years, have explored other options, but keep solidly footed with the Mephistos. There's just something very special and captivating about them, as you so eloquently stated.
They indeed run very hot - in...
Probably, but a prime objective in this instance was to immerse in concert videos - and with that 80" monitor... wow, immerse, you can. I was enjoying the Pat Metheny DVD - getting a double dose with both the audio and video, watching Pat master his talent.
Hey guys - I had to wrap up work before the holidays, then travel, then figure out how to transcode over 14 hours of video of the M9 installation, then learn how to use Photoshop and Premier Pro to create a brief <7 minute installation video...whew! that was almost harder than the integration of...
Folks -
I ran into a problem when selecting "Save a Local Copy" - I thought that would just be a pointer to a local copy of my new Destination Library, but it can "duplicate" partial albums (with a single track)... not what wanted... I wanted it to use the songs in my existing Destination...
Hi AMR -
I assume you meant the Soundiiz process, converting from, say, Tidal to Qobuz? I started doing it manually (for a friend) and it was insanely painful. Then Ed suggested Soundiiz and it was immensely more efficient - just a matter of minutes (mostly just getting familiar with it).
or...
You are welcome. I used Soundiiz to transfer Tidal over to Qobuz as well, but I could not find a way to move the ROON playlists from one library to another - seems a Playlist file would exist and transfer as well (as Meridian used to have), but no such luck in my search.

FYI - For those that might be transferring their ROON Core and ROON Library to the SGM Extreme and are having difficulty getting the old playlists across, here's how I ended up having to do it. Hope it helps. Wish there had just been a playlist file to copy over, but I sure couldn't find one...
Jeff Fritz hit it spot on. Simply an amazing experience (in my opinion) - effortless, limitless, expansive, spacious, articulate and "realistic" - simply an amazing experience.
