My Little Barn

So how does the PP5000 on Glanz or Axiom compare to the Etsuro Gold on the 3012r.
toy ears the PP-5000 has a stiffer compliance and preferres high mass Tonearms, The Gold sounded in Comparison on 3012R more vibrant and free.

Sorry my question is which arm cart combo did you prefer?

My current favorite is Glanz MH-1200s with Phasemation CS-1200 Headshell and PP-5000 cartridge.

Lots of great information, thanks to all! I just picked up this guy to replace my Koetsu Rosewood Signature. Looking forward to sonic goodness :) Etsuro gold pic.jpg

Lucky you. I am patiently waiting to get mine delivered in early December. I also decided to replace my MSL Signature Platinum by the new MSL Signature Diamond but the lead time for delivery is a little bit longer and it will land early next year.

@dcc any news on the MSL Sig Diamond? Last week the distributor reached out to me and said my unit should be arriving anytime now. Hopefully before x-mass.

The same here. According to the distributor, I should get it just before Christmas.

The Etsuro Gold has left Japan and should arrive by the end of the week.

I just learned that the MSL Signature Diamond won't be leaving Japan before December 23rd. I should get it around New Year.

The good news is that the Etsuro Gold has been delivered. François from Ana Mighty Sound is spending the weekend at that my place and will finalise the set up tomorrow.

I got my Etsuro Gold delivered and set up by François from Ana Mighty Sound. I also had ordered a My Sonic Lab Signature Diamond, but it was not delivered yet. François will come back once he receives it from Japan. He brought his MSL Signature Diamond demo cartridge so we could do some comparisons.

The Etsuro Gold is mounted on the SAT tonearm and my incoming MSL Signature Diamond will replace the Signature Platinum that is fitted on the linear tracking arm.

But François had also brought something else.

Did you get rid of your beautiful Krell amps ?

So how did you like the MSL Signature Diamond demo cartridge in comparison to your Sig Platinum? Worth the $$$ ? What does the Diamond do different?

The Etsuro Gold and the MSL Signature Diamond are the greatest cartridges I have ever heard in my system.

The gap between the MSL Signature Diamond and Platinum is not small. The Diamond has the same traits but better on all accounts. It is worth the price.

The sonic signature of the MSL Diamond is different than the Etsuro Gold. So it was a no brainer to move on and get both. I just need to be a little more patient but François has promised to come to set it up as soon as he receives it.

With the help of an audiophile friend, I have rearranged the setup following the arrival of the Thrax Phoenix power amps.

The Tenor Audio amp has been removed from the system.

The power supply of the Thrax libra preamp has migrated under the Studer tape deck where the Tenor Audio was placed. The power supply sits on the Stacore Roller platform that was previously used under the NADAC combo.

I don't need the small Woodlink rack anymore. The NADAC combo sits on the pneumatic Stacore Basic platform Instead.

Better isolation of both the power supply of the preamp and the NADAC combo should yield in some improvement but it is a little bit too early to draw a definitive conclusion.

This little downsizing is visually better with all the component in silver. The NADAC combo is now fully hidden from my listening position.

Wow! That looks great, dcc! Can’t imagine how much work that was but it looks like it was all designed to be together now. Well done!

Happy holidays and I hope you enjoy listening as the new arrangement settles in. Thanks for sharing the pictures

Dcc, in your quest for spkrs, and since you're a client at a Thrax dealership, did you ever audition the Lyra/Bassus combination?
I've heard the Lyras, fully re-wired, and they're quite the revelation, possibly the best box spkrs I've heard by a large margin (visited flagship Rockports and Kharmas).
Can only dream how good they sound with the Bassus.
Were they ever on your shortlist, especially running Thrax amps?

I believe that I have listened to all Thrax components including the Lyra SE/Bassus and the Lyra SE/Hadès which I actually preferred. The Lyra SE/Bassus are not my cup of tea. I cannot imagine having those in my living room as I don't find them visually appealing. Honestly, they don't fare against the Stenheim Reference Ultime Two which are in another league.

Sure, your Stenheim must be mighty impressive then.
The Lyras I heard were heavily internally re-wired.
I know the owner is pining for a pair of Bassus, hate to see a grown man cry, lol.
