A big thank you to Florian for posting my photos. They are not properly set up yet but that will happen today or tomorrow now that they just crossed the 225 hour mark.
I have them displayed with VAC 300 iQ Musicblocks as well as Soulution 511 monos and 7-Series.
I owned my first Apogee speaker in 1988 (the Scintilla). I was a very young audiophile and that was my first true reference level speaker. After that, I would own most of the big Apogee models with the exception of the Grand until they went out of business in 1999. I was coincidentally an Apogee dealer for part of that time as I started in the hi-fi business in 1996. In the following years and decades, I would help many of my customers build great modern systems around their beloved Apogees. This included a great Boulder system for a customer in a high-rise who had to have his Grands craned into his unit.
So here we are 36 years after that first pair graced my room and I am face to face with the Auditorium. Outside of a vague family resemblance, they share nothing in common with their grandfathers. The build quality, fit/finish, design of the "ribbons", magnet structures, and everything else that goes along with it, are on a different planet. This is a truly special speaker and a joy to listen to. I have found them to be very easy to drive (100WPC will do it) but demanding of the very best electronics. You can hear everything.
My current business, now on it's 40th year (I'm on my 25th year with it), is best known for selling many of the finest and best established brands. Occasionally there is a rare exception where a comparatively young company attracts our attention and deserves to be part of our family. This is that rare exception just like AirTight, Aesthetix Audio, and Pathos which were not even a year in business when we originally became dealers for them and haven't looked back since.
We started out as Audio Unlimited in 1984, founded by John Barnes. John and I (Carl) got together in 1999 and enjoyed much success together. After John's untimely death in 2011, I overhauled the business and made the decision to rebrand it and position it for the future but keeping all of our core ideals. We were the business created by audiophiles as a place where audiophiles would want to shop with service placed above everything else. We have worked very hard for our customers (as it should be). The rest is history. We have a great deal of current and past customers on WBF but I have always made it a point to stay off forums. Maybe that will change, maybe not. For now, thank you for having me as a member and to Florian for having me as a dealer!
