Well Ron, if you remember the Liszts demo we went to, the Animas at Mani are a little more forward and immediate. I personally think they'd benefit from SETs and good analog, despite Mani finding most triodes don't work as well as his SS First Watts. Despite them being v immediate, overly warm tubes are not called for, fast and precise SETs might work best. But that's just my taste. Mani has for good reason settled on his SS.

All in all, the Animas work in many different levels across many genres.

I can 'ruin' the sound I'm currently getting quite easily, just by making a simple change anywhere along the chain. Perhaps the adage "garbage in, garbage out" really is true, and that speakers can get a hard time through no fault of their own?

My room's 20 ft x 11 but empties into a small kitchen. There's a triangular ceiling over everything which peaks at 11 ft. -and because my average midrange band level @ 11 ft is ~ 58db. My sealed Altec 416-8B midwoofers will do ~ 90db at 100Hz cleanly; below that are my three Rythmik F12 sealed subs. I had hoped to build a 3.3 home theater system, using the Topping DM7 or Okto DAC 8 Pro feeding balanced inputs of low power amps like these.

I'm not a DIYer, so the neurochrome amps are not really an option for me. What about Schitt or other low power amps? I thought about this https://www.schiit.com/products/aegir_2 , but it's at least twice the wpc I need and too much power draw.
