Just to confirm the following:
-The SQ of the internal storage (U.2/U.3) will be 10-15% better than an NAS without router/switch/DCD.
-The NAS SQ will be 1-2% better than an internal storage (U.2/U.3) with router/switch/DCD.
Regarding internal storage, the default option is a 3.84TB capacity...
I'm pondering whether I'll need a special mounting bracket or device if I choose to buy a U.2/U.3 drive later on for internal storage in the open market, as Emile noted it's situated in slot 5.
@Taiko Audio What is the SQ delta between using an Extreme NVMe storage device in an Olympus server vs a battery-powered U.2/U.3 storage device? I just hate to see wasting large amounts of storage space unused if the SQ delta is minimum.
This is very cool indeed. However, need to pay extra attention not to damage/knock off surrounding components (especially the tall electrolytic cap) during installation as it's a heavy heatsink. Don't forget about ESD.
Is there a SQ difference between:
1. SFP RJ45 Copper (DAC) cable with predetermined length up to 7m
vs.
2. SFP with RJ45 Copper port + CAT5/6/7 cable (select different CAT5/6/7 cables to achieve desired length)
Same here. Received a couple of letters from CA Dept of Tax and Fee Administration. Unfortunately, I ended paying for it as they were going to send me a notice of determination and follow-up with collection. I guess I call them back and dispute this charge.
Finally received my Extreme after few months of patience. I just want to acknowledge and express my gratitude for Emile taking his personal time after work and helped me set up the system. Now, I can't stop listening and the journey's just begun!
I think 16/24bits DACs are fixed points and 32bits DACs are floating points just because of how the bits are stored and calculated. However, I will need to check with Chord for confirmation.
Will the Taiko switch work in harmony with existing audiophile switches such as M12 Gold/Melco S-100 or as a replacement? Multi units in stack and fitted with fiber as an option?
