FWIW, I just did the update via my PC (I do have the port forwarding set on my router, so I can access the router via192.168.1.171) and everything went smoothly....
Am I right in thinking that port forwarding (if set up in the TaikoAudio router) would still function without adjustment after the home router reacquires the Taiko router via DHCP? Or would one need to adjust the port forwarding manually to reflect the new IP address?
I've experimented with a setup that seems to work for me, is quite convenient, and which I don't believe degradates the sound quality (please let me know if that's not true). I use my iPad for general music control (wireless to TaikoRouter), but have relied on my desktop previously for VPN and...
I'm guessing here, but there is the option for Discovery or Concert at the top. And in Settings, under Extreme Server/Player settings, there's something called Sound Profile, which gives one a Default and Alternative option. Someone more knowledgeable than me can perhaps explain exactly what the...
Christiaan, unfortunately I do not have photos to share, but there were at least 2 rooms featuring Extremes at the recent CAF (Capital Audio Fest) in Washington D.C., plus at least 1 room that I saw at Axpona a few months ago in Chicago.
Someone will correct me no doubt if I've got this wrong, but my understanding now is that the DAC profile sets the buffer size and once a new profile is loaded (from the Extreme desktop) it stays until someone manually loads a different one. Eventually that looks to be configurable in xdms...
Ed, thanks for the quick reply! Can you point me to the config file so I could adjust that setting? I saw you do that, but didn't take note of where that file resides.
On the USB profile, xdms shows in DAC settings that I'm using the 4 profile (which I think you set based on my old dac profile)...
Another point of clarification, if someone happens to know the answer. How do the USB choices (1-4) and bit-rate settings interact, if at all, with xdms? I understand how to adjust those for Roon, but it's unclear to me whether they even matter for xdms--and, if so, how to adjust them for my...
Not exactly a parallel situation, but I used to be able to run my Taiko version of the Aqua Formula xHD 2.0 driver (WASAPI) alternately in Roon with my exaSound ASIO64 e38 drivers (both the 2ch and MC versions). But when the custom Taiko USB driver for the xHD became ASIO (at least that's my...
Hmm, gives me pause for thought, Emile. The 'last mile' of my current setup still has fiber running 50' from one floor down to the Extreme in my music room. Does putting a simple converter between that and the Extreme make sense? I've used something like this before: "10Gtek 1.25G Media...
Emile, my impression from Ed is that there are no plans to support HQplayer with XDMS. Is that still true? I ask only because of my issue with trying to find a workable solution to play back all of my MC files through Roon--> XDMS going forward.
Thanks.
Sounds as if you got the "random" mode turned on, perhaps? It's very hard to see, but when selected, the icon is slightly blue rather than gray (on the Queue screen, it's the 2nd from the left in the image below).
Steve, you're right, I didn't initialize one of the players from TAS (via my iPad) first--and this was after a reboot (for unrelated reasons). It just appears that one cannot select a player via the desktop app, and wondered if there was a way to do it I was missing.
After selecting a player via...
That's a great tip. One question: after loading TAS that way from my desktop, I happened to have no player assigned at the time and couldn't figure out if there was a way to initiate a player from the desktop interface. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
I just installed mine also (it also arrived a day early, for which I'm very happy!) and what struck me immediately (aside from the overall first impression of just "wow") were characteristics that I'm particularly sensitive to: string instruments just sounding so much more "real' in terms of...
Wil, I have that happen on occasion also. Only thing I've been able to surmise is that I think it's caused by some Search criteria that's hanging out there. So I go back to my most recent Search screens and find one that allows me to Cancel (even though there's nothing showing in the Search...
Thanks for the suggestion, but unless I'm misunderstanding something (not unheard of), I think your suggestions just allow me to add a track or album to the queue. I'm looking for a simple way to add a track from the queue (or Playing screen) to an existing Playlist.
The only way I can see to do...
Steve, I was playing a Qobuz playlist and tried your album tap trick and it did not work on the 1st album I happened to have playing, for whatever reason. But it has worked on every other album cover I've tried--and it opens up a whole new level of detail and controls that I didn't know even...
I'm using a DS1515+ for backup (after my library got moved to the Extreme when I first got it). Never had any problems with the NAS or connections. I just mapped a drive letter to \\roon_library\sgm_music (obviously I named the NAS \\roon_library). Don't know if that helps....
Emile, I went back and tried 2048 again with no luck. I've tried it at all buffersizes, including auto, with no luck. And this last attempt regenerated that XDPlayer error message via cmd.exe on the Extreme, which I had deleted previously.
Hmm, I just happened to remote into the Extreme just now to check on the usb driver and saw a cmd.exe window pop-up:
I'll send this on to tech, obviously, but thought I should mention it here for completeness :).
Interesting. I can play DSD files okay, but not my 24/192 flac files. I don't have DoP set, since the current Formula plays the DSD directly, as I understand it. But in any event, I wouldn't think that would affect the pcm files.
I'm assuming that I'm using the ASIO, though Ed set me up for the...
I'm an Aqua Formula user and my experience with TAS so far lies much closer to what most folks are reporting here, Wil, than yours. While I don't perceive quite as dramatic a contrast between Roon and TAS as some are describing, I find the improvements to be notable, consistent, and entirely...
