I have a lp that has a 10hz rumble that is felt at the beginning of a track on the Command Label from 1966. Back then Command would rent out Carnegie Hall after midnight for recording. There is a subway beneath the hall and this one track caught the rumble of the train just at the right time...- 16hz lover

Instead of multiple small woofers that aren’t necessarily tight and accurate, or have "fast" bass, which end up costing you lots more money, and lots of cables, and still won't have the capability of single digit frequncies because of their limited cone...- 16hz lover

Lots of discs go below 20hz. Oppo players start rolling off at 5hz, some Marantz players go down to 3hz. You are correct, most small subs in a couple of cubic feet of cabinet with 12-14mm of excursion that are sold as consumer grade don't have a snowballs chance in hell of going below 20hz...- 16hz lover

Y There are Telarc CD's with single digit frequencies out there. And pipe organ cd's routinely have 16hz notes from 32 ft pipes. Why would a cd stop at 20hz?- 16hz lover

No, seeing how many watts it takes to drive a 4" voice coil, 4" of travel at 8hz, without clipping the amp, sounds about right, especially splitting it up for two woofers It never ceases to amaze me at how many people think that subwoofers are only supposed to operate from 20-60 hz. I didn't think that it would happen this quick, but after selling my Micro Seiki TT and Sumiko Blackbird cartridge, I found the 3.7's locally on CL, right after a big price reduction. Bet they will be the same price as some mortgages. Higher the price, fewer buyers. Going to be interested in seeing how much travel/ displacement the drivers have. The 6000 watts is available at 230 volts only, otherwise only 3000 watts at 120 volts.- 16hz lover

Magnepans vs. Electrostatics. What is the better technology? What do you prefer?
Owned the Magneplanar Tympani IVa, and the Martin Logan ReQuest. The ML didn't like the room with the cathedral ceiling, so it really depends on how well each speaker integrates with the room.- 16hz lover

The never ending association with tubes having to be used with full range/horn loaded speakers will never go away in my lifetime. I will never understand the dogma over tubes.
