I'm very much interested in doing something similar to this design one day and have followed you guys for awhile. Could you elaborate on some of the challenges and "things to know" about building the ceiling mounted horns?
I saw them on Facebook. I messaged the guy to see if he would share details. I don't think it is his system though, so he might not know. Still, great to see guys doing stuff like this.
Found this video about WheelFi/Jeffrey Jackson. The level of craftsmanship on display here is pretty amazing. Worth a few hundred views.

Kudos to you! I've had nothing but positive interactions with Jeffrey. We've never met, but we have become kinda email pen-pals over our shared interest in bands. He's forgotten more about audio than I've ever known and he's super down-to-earth and never ever salesy. He's been very helpful with...
Just amazing!!! Do you know any details about this build? I emailed Jeffrey to see if he would chime in on this post. Not sure if he posts here. If not and if he gives me any details, I will share here (with his permission of course). Would love to get some posts from people like Jeffery who...
I actually tried that a few times with the pic of the dude’s system that is basically a wall with two huge horns with the curved front space. Google showed me “ceiling tiles” as the match. Hahhahahahah
He was partnered with the dude who founded Etsy on the WheelFi stuff, but my understanding is that they had a different vision for the way forward and agreed to separate. I got the impression that Jeffrey learned a ton with WheelFi, but wanted more independence. I think he retained the name, but...
Here is what he designed for me. I LOVE the wooden horns he did for you and saw lots of pics of that speaker and their big brothers over the last few years as he was developing them. Would love to hear his speakers. Dude is mega talented.
Awesome! I’m friendly with Jeffrey and he is designing me something cool that hopefully I will have built locally by summer. Can you share pics and details on what he built for you?
This is the one that intrigues me the most. This pic only went around recently to my knowledge and my understanding is it is a room under construction. I haven't seen any mention to what he's driving these with and you can't see anything in the pics. Absolutely gorgeous, but I'm curious about...
Is it too early to see some of the conceptual designs?
I like your thinking there and agree that the drivers and horns should really be designed as one. Of course, compromises have to be made regarding size when you are looking to sell to people who will use the speakers in more conventional...
Yeah, I sold my entire system (and pretty much everything else I owned) when I moved overseas (Colombia). I'm somewhat on the fence about what/when I will build something else. I've been talking to Jefferey Jackson about a somewhat modest custom horn system (nothing like the systems posted in...
Yeah, I would assume that integration would be an issue, but I have to think that the guys building these crazy systems have considered that and perhaps how to get around it without necessarily resorting to DSP. I personally find pin-point stereo imaging to be fairly low on my list of most...
I definitely dream of one day building the ultimate system and room. I see what some of these crazy guys do with truly giant custom horn installations and they make me drool, but (like most of us) I've never had an opportunity to hear one of these crazy systems (see pics).
But I'm guessing at...
This version actually exceeds the Stromtank in pretty much every area. What we can't see in the specs is distortion or how well they recreate the sine wave. Still, seems like a much more cost effective solution for those looking to go this route.
Also, in case of a zombie apocolypse, these...
Curious what you all think of this non-audiophile solution. It's only $4K and doesn't look too bad. They do offer a similarly spec'd version to the Stromtank that retails for around $5,500, but it's currently listed as out-of-stock.
I can't really see why this one costs $5,500 and the...
It's becoming apparent that the next gremlin I need to solve for is isolating my Garrard 301 (Artisan Fidelity Statement build with two arms, approximately 24" x 18" and 65 pounds) from my rack and (if possible) as much internally produced vibrations from the motor and air bourne vibrations...
I completely agree that the idea of diminishing returns is treated as if it's an "uncontroversial idea". My assertion is that the very foundation of this idea in HiFi is a lie. At a minimum, it is unprovable.
Please explain to me how your are going to create this S-curve chart that proves where...
The problem with relying only/primarily on the purely objective measurements is that we simply don't have a way to measure all aspects of music reproduction. We can measure the flatness of frequency response until we are blue in the face, yet the same speakers in two different systems will sound...
In my experience, the diminishing returns concept is one of the biggest lies in HiFi and is largely perpetuated by audiophiles & hobbyists who lack direct experience living with systems in higher tiered price points than what they can comfortably afford.
Most audiophiles who can comfortably...
