Does this site offer dark mode? I've looked through my Profile, Account Settings, and Preferences, but I don't see any references to it. (I did a search on this forum to no avail, either.
For those of you who switched from a laptop connected to an external DAC to a dedicated music server, did you hear any audible improvements? I’m considering an Aurender N150, but it’s $3200, then I’d need an internal hard drive for file storage (a 4TB SSD is about $320), then I’d need a router...
This thread doesn't seem very active, and since my last post, I upgraded to a Prime Signature with an Ortofon Cadenza Bronze cartridge. The improvement over my Scout/2M Black is astounding. Deeper bass, more details (with less surface noise), deeper/wider soundstage--you name it!
I no longer...
I got tired of tubes going bad in my Primaluna HP amp, so I went back to solid state--so glad I did! This beast yields very little in terms of warmth to the tubes, but I've gained far better bass and overall transparency.
My VPI Prime Signature with an Ortofon Cadenza Bronze cartridge arrived today. I simply cannot adequately describe the improvement over my Scout 1.1/Ortofon 2M Black! Everything that could possibly be better, is! Deeper/wheightier bass, smoother/more detailed highs, more open mids, far...
Does anyone use the DAC by connecting a laptop to the USB Audio input? I'm having all sorts of problems. I downloaded and installed the driver, and my JRiver software recognizes it, but when I play a file, I get an error message:
Also, the driver does not show up as an audio device in my...
Has anyone had the opportunity to compare these two speakers? If so, how would you characterize their sound differences? Both are on my short list to audition.
It's about 18 months old and has maybe 100 hours of use, so it's basically just nicely broken in. It's in virtually mint condition. I'm selling it because my new PrimaLuna amp has a headphone output. I'm the original owner and have the A.C. cord, manual, and original box. $350 (list is $699)...
I just traded in my Pass Labs INT-150 for a PrimaLuna Premium Dialogue HP (Really, couldn't they have come up with a snappier name?) and I LOVE it! It's so much richer and simply more realistic sounding compared to the Pass. It can use EL34 (which is the stock tube), KT 88/120, or KT150 tubes...
Unless I missed it, I don't see a thread devoted to this topic. I'll start with Paul Lewis' set of complete Beethoven Sonatas. I just bought it a few weeks ago and have listened to about half of it so far, and I'm very impressed with both his playing and the audio quality.
It's in mint condition and 11 months old. I'm the original owner and have the original box, manual, and remote. I'm selling it only because I've been bitten by the tube bug! Here are its specs:
Gain (db)
26 dB
Power Output /ch (8 ohm)
150 watts
Power Output /ch (4 ohm)...
I bought a pair of very gently used Audeze LCD-CX phones today--wow! They are amazingly detailed and rich sounding, and the closed back design provides great isolation.
I just received my new Scout 1.1/Ortofon 2m Black--wow! It pretty much crushes my former Technics SL 1500MK5/Shure M97xe combo!
For those concerned about the shape of the tonearm cables, I straightened them out as seen in the photo with the cover on!
My father-in-law passed away a few years ago, and when cleaning out his belongings, we found a new, sealed B&O MMC 3 cartridge. I have no idea how long he had it before he died, but since it it unused, is it likely to still work properly? (For instance, would the magnets still be viable? I know...
I've converted to stereo, so I no longer need this magnificent center speaker. It has the ruby Macassar finish, and is in mint condition. New they are $6,000. I'm asking $3,400.
I'm a classical music lover and audiophile. My current occupation is a high school English teacher (for the past 25 years), and before that I was an audio engineer for my local NPR station--mainly recorded live classical concerts for broadcast and did some studio production work. I don't recall...
Hello. Does anyone here own a Pass Labs Int-150? I recently decided to switch from surround sound to stereo, so I sold my Marantz 8801 pre/pro and Parasound Halo A51 and bought the INT-150--wow! It is much more transparent and detailed--everything simply sounds more real.
