1st Annual Basspig Audiophile Society Meetup (Connecticut)

Mark, you're one insane bass freak! :D

That's why they call me Bass Pig. :)
There used to be a Wikipedia page about this, but the Wiki folks didn't feel it was worthy of a place in their cyclo, so they took it down.

Mark's system breathes like a giant lung at those high SPLs. I now understand why he calls it addicting. My withdraw symptoms started a few days ago!

The really cool thing is at those levels, his system keeps its composure with low distortion and phase coherency. Therefore it doesn't seem all that 'over the top" loud, and its not fatiguing. Just thrilling.

Kilowatts baby, kilowatts. And big-ass drivers.

It certainly helps. But in the case of the fireworks, the 'signal present' lamps were just flickering on the louder explosions. According to my QSC manuals, the power output per channel is about 3 watts to reach that threshold. The efficiency of the array is around 112dB/w/m, due to all those drivers' mutual coupling.

Probably because at 135dB, it's just loafing. I'd need bigger circuit breakers to start utilizing it's potential. And a stronger house. :)
