The musical “La La Land” dominated the Golden Globe awards Sunday, on a night ruled otherwise by surprise winners.

“La La Land” picked up seven awards, including best actor, actress, director and best film in the comedy/musical category. But popular picks were largely upstaged by unexpected winners, including “Moonlight” for best dramatic film, three awards for the TV miniseries “The Night Manager,” and two wins for the French film “Elle.”

as I predicted, La La Land not only wins every award for which it was nominated but also won the most Golden Globes ever by a single movie

Everyone needs to see this movie to realize how wonderful it is Kudos Damien Chazelle. You are a boy genuis

Shocked, shocked, that a film that celebrates Hollywood was heavily awarded by Hollywood....

I just mentioned it for something different. I yet haven't seen 'La La Land' ... probably on Blu-ray, 2D, and eventually 4K.

And it sure raked a bunch of statuettes last night. The cinematography is what I'm into for 'La La Land' ...the artistic photography, from my readings.
...And Emma of course, charismatic on the screen.

'Zootopia', ok I guess, but not my first choice.

'The Crown' (Netflix), yes.

I agree Bob.I haven't seen it but by all accounts her role was well acted but until I see it and decide I still feel that Emma Stone is the clear winner for BestActress

Thought Viola Davis was better than Stone, but they appear to be putting her in Supporting (which wasn't really the case in the movie imo). Have not seen Jackie or Elle.

..that's about all they got right then

And more Meryl Streep awards... It looks like Hollywood is stuck in a self-referential loop and doesn't know what else to do.

I guess dear Meryl getting the award gave her the feeling that she should give a 10 minute political speech.

The reality is that Hollywood got it right. Hands down the best movie of 2016

Hi Steve,

It's interesting to compare the number of awards both La La Land and Moonlight have between them. With the Globes splitting pictures between musical/comedy and drama, obviously La La Land was a shoe-in for those categories. Will the Oscar's be as willing to go there again? Time will tell I guess.

For me the best movies of the year were
La La Land
Moonlighting
Manchester y the Sea
Hell Or High Water
Hidden Figures

there are others I plan on seeing

Lion
Loving
Elle

I just have no interest in Moonlight despite its win last night. Maybe as a rental later.

I've heard Lion is exceptional.

Just like Manchester By The Sea Moonlight was for me a difficult movie in parts to watch but definitely worth seeing

No problem Mark. Let's talk after the Academy Awards

Which will tell us, er... what the 5800, mostly white, mostly male, mostly over 60 Academy voted for. Maybe not much else.

The Iranian film Under the Shadow was both brilliant and scary. Maggie's Plan was excellent and Love and Friendship too - both were intelligent funnies.
