No Steve, you're not getting old because several friends and family members in their seventies and eighties they all loved Mad Max: Fury Road.

Updated predictions:

Best Picture: The Revenant
Best Director: Innaritu
Best Actor: Leo
Best Actress: Brie Larson
Best Supporting Actor: Mark Rylance
Best Supporting Actress: Alicia Vikander

Inside Out will win best animated film, original screenplay will go to Spotlight, and adapted version to the Big Short. Mad Max will get some of the technical awards.

I'll be rooting for Spotlight which I found to be the best film, but all clues go to The Revenant. Supporting actor is a coin flip, so I'll take the guy that actually had a SAG nomination and just won at BAFTA.

I was able to see a couple of more movies leading up to the Oscar Show tonight. Here is my updated list showing the order I would rate each category. Not a fan of any awards show really, but I'll tune in tonight as I want to hear what Chris Rock has to say.

I saw all of the movies and Room was my favorite although I don't think it will win. Just saw Spotlight the other night and while a well done movie, pissed me off too much to actually enjoy it.

Here are my Picks

Best Picture: The Revenant
Best Director: Alejandro González Iñárritu
Best Actor: Leonardo DiCaprio
Best Actress: Brie Larson
Best Supporting Actor: Sylvester Stallone
Best Supporting Actress: Alicia Vikander

If anyone can upset Leo this year it is Eddie Redmayne in The Danish Girl

I wish I felt more for Room. I thought it was a totally depressing movie with the only glow from the young man who played her son

The young boy who played her son was wonderful. Initially I thought Room was going to be a typical "abduction" movie but I liked how they developed it from a different perspective. In most instances we never consider that the boy didn't even know how to walk up steps, how Room and the sky via a skylight was his entire "reality". What was on TV was not real. Room passed several films once I finally had time to see it.

I agree with you Jim. While I can see Steve's point, I found the entire movie fascinating.

I walked out of that movie feeling as if I was the abused party. My wife and daughter read and loved the book.

Tonight, this is it.

* I've read somewhere, can't remember exactly where, and I also watched couple trailers, that Brooklyn has a pretty picture...

No overacting, no bombs or bullets, good dialog, the cinematography is beautiful, bits of humor and the lead is the youngest person to have received 2 Oscars nominations.

Brooklyn

No overacting, no bombs or bullets, good dialog, the cinematography is beautiful, bits of humor and the lead is the youngest person to have received 2 Oscars nominations.

The cinematography, the reconstitution of the time period, decors, acting, innocence, love, romance, Irish, Italian, food, table, dresses, characters,
...all is top beauty and love and peace. ...The look in their eyes, the emotions, the coming back to our own youth, the tears...

The cars...

* I'm on the red carpet right now...just saw Charlize Theron, Russell Crowe, ... this should be quite a great evening.
{I am wearing my black tuxedo, and eating caviar with champagne.}

Enjoy your evening Jim.

Ha! About that, Mad Max! ...Three Oscars so far! ...And what's coming up...

I'm having the best time of my life, with a big smile on my face and few tears of joy...what a lovely day!

WoW - Mad Max again! ...Its 4th one!

? For me, the major accomplishment/discipline, is The Revenant for BEST Cinematography.
So, my highest congrats for the cinematographer of 'The revenant' - the guy is a true artist with a camera. ...He has the eye. ...Fully/well deserved.
...And the decor helped too...some near the Rockies, here in BC, Canada. ...Where I've been several times and some of the best scenery in my country.
