Yet more consolidation that will cause higher prices for the consumer. As our economy has moved from manufacturing to service based, the FTC has done a poor job understanding and preventing the creation of monopolies. Their three biggest failures have been Amazon, Facebook and Google.

It looks like they continue to fail with this latest Amazon acquisition.

Do you believe that the emergence and growth of Amazon has caused higher prices for consumers of the items one can buy on Amazon?

Did Amazon roll up and consolidate other movie studios before this MGM purchase? If not, how does Amazon's first purchase of a movie studio result in impermissible monopolistic consolidation under Federal anti-trust law?

Amazon is keeping prices artificially low as it is gaining market share. This has be subsidized by manufacturers, AWS and share prices. Once they have reached their desired scale, they will increase price to the consumer market.

Amazon will control the means of production and distribution by buying MGM. If the past serves as a window into the future, this will lead to lower quality and higher prices.
