Was hoping to get more information here especially since the company founder is a person friend. But he was not there and I could not get any information or hear any music.

I have been reading about their new receivers Amir, the AVR850 and AVR550, both with Dirac Live. ...For eight channels though, not twelve (for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X up to 7.1.4). ...With additional amplification required.

Arcam is more the refined expression (sound quality) of all the other Asian receivers (Japan, China, etc.). ...Designed in the UK of course. ...A little more expensive too.

? AVR850 - http://www.arcam.co.uk/products,av-amplifiers,AV-Amplifiers,avr850.htm => MSRP: $6,550 USD (approx)
?? AVR 550 - http://www.arcam.co.uk/products,av-amplifiers,AV-Amplifiers,avr550.htm => MSRP: $ 3,600 USD (approx)
??? AVR 550 (Review) - http://www.areadvd.de/tests/xxl-tes...tmos-ass-mit-dirac-einmessung-fuer-3-300-eur/

If I see any interest by some of the members here I will provide couple links from here and there with great contributors.

* Many moons ago here @ WBF I started a thread about all AV receivers and pre/pros...all specs, prices, features, reviews, ...but it was never a popular thread...and unfortunately I simply abandoned it. It is my own weakness though; if I don't persevere how can you attract any interest from new members.
But the thread is still there and if ever someone post in it I'll be right there. :b ...It's good for me to keep track with all the latest, and there are quite few new advancements nowadays with receivers and pre/pros...UHD (HDMI 2.0a/HDCP 2.2), 3D sound immersion with Dolby Atmos - DTS:X - Auro-3D, new apps, streaming resolutions, etc. ...Even better DACs from AKM and ESS.

And it don't matter to me @ all if a Dolby Atmos AV receiver cost only $300 or a new state-of-the-art pre/pro with Trinnov (Altitude) for $30,000
So those two new Arcam receivers fit right in between. But their uniqueness is that they include Dirac Live Room EQ system. It's a good thing/start...I think.
...The beginning of things to come from other AV receiver's manufacturers. So Arcam here is @ the avant-garde.

They suscitate more interest from the UK and European people for sure, but also from few Canadians and Americans.

I would love to see the AVR thread resurrected. I have not run into anyone who keeps as current on AVRs than you do Bob.

For me in order to do that I would need interested participation from new young and old members who are totally free and open to all suggestions and without analyzing the messenger. :b I'm learning from having discussions with people sharing similar interests. AV receivers here @ WBF ... tough subject for the hi-end crowd. ...Or pre/pros in the low to mid four figures.

Arcam new AVRs, and ten months from now we'll probably still have two members who posted in this thread; you and I.

But sometime near, I'll have to resurrect that thread; if I want to share new sound all around from a new toy (pre/pro). And we'll see...

Why not create a thread in the video forum, create the first post, and then ask if people want to see more?

Amir I love your optimism, always have. You've been here since April 2010...almost six years.

* We have a full forum section on Blu-ray, video and all. Just couple days ago one member was asking about the best UHD 3D Passive Monitor/TVs ... for best graphics and 3D project rendition. I was pleasantly surprised to read his question here @ WBF. And I searched, and I searched some more, and I learned some too...awesome!

It's unusual. Every year, every six months, every three months there are established groups of distinguished members @ WBF who elaborate on some particular subjects.
It's a good trend, I learned to appreciate it because they explore some subjects/topics en profondeur (in great depth).

WBF has a classy clientele right now, is quite active, the most I've ever seen, ...brief the members (old and new) of the time, of the day, they participate in the topics that interest them. There are many high caliber thread starters here, including you, Steve, DaveyF, and many others, and new ones. ...It feels like a pretty swell place, considering, and one day after the next.

The best idea/philosophy of WBF is what you, Steve, and other co-founders had in mind @ the very beginning: A series of experts from all avenues and interests.
It says right @ the top when you log in.

3D video I'm a fan, happy to share when I watch one. UHD Blu-ray...it'll come...I think. DTS:X...that too. And Dolby Atmos of course.
Some members here are already equipped, Chuck for one. And Don is into Dirac Live, and Michael too.

The trends they are the people's whose interests develop in time and with their time, be it audio, video, ...and we shall see with our eyes the moving pictures in front of us and hear with our ears the music playing for us.

* The video equation inside an AV receiver; it's mainly to allow UHD video signals to pass thru unmolested.
And switching between few video sources.

OLED UHD TVs...every day I see no thread talking about it. Before AV receivers and UHD Blu-ray and OLED UHD TVs and today's state of the affairs regarding 3D @ home and the fall of the Canadian dollar ;-) become routine discussions...WBF would most likely have over 20,000 members...or less.

<> If I would win a major lottery (I never buy tickets) @ a major power pow wow lottery ($800 billions of dollars...American dollars), I would invest in WBF to grow as a major force/player of the audio/video world...with top music and film content. As of right now we are well on our way. :b

I'm just responsive to others Amir. So you can say that I learned it from some people here. I'm a slow learner though, stubborn, and I forgive myself from past mistakes.
That's the only way I can forgive other's own mistakes. ...Like buying a Dolby Atmos receiver that has no upgrade path to DTS:X ;-) ...Just kidding.

But yeah, good idea, which OLED UHD 3D TV ... say 65" Class and for roughly $3,000 (street). Most likely from LG.
And some of them @ only 2.7mm that's pretty thin. Just twenty years ago many of us were still living with a CRT tube TV about three feet deep! :D ...The biggest/heaviest ones.
Speaking of weight; CRT tube TVs @ 300 pounds versus thin sheet of UHD TV @ 3 pounds! ...Try carrying that tube TV out of your living room and to your friend's garage to watch the Cup Stanley with all your buddies! ...Now no sweat, you can bring it right downtown Seattle and watch with the street people ... 65", not a tablet. You just unroll it and voila, ...grab a bench nearby. And a bottle of vodka from the liquor store's corner. :b

You just reminded me that my 300 pound CRT set is still sitting in our living room at our main house! My back hurts just thinking about picking it up for recycling :).

Color me interested, Bob.
