One problem I can see in this design is the diodes used. They have an 'on' voltage drop, typically about 0.6 volts or so across the diode. Voltages less than that might not be able to bias the diode into forward conduction. So while it might seem low distortion with a sine wave, it might also be lacking a bit of low level detail? A simple remedy might be a 6AL5 which is a dual diode vacuum tube and lacks the forward conduction voltage drop. At any rate an interesting approach, although I am curious why the extra bias current required somehow isn't also class AB.

Thank you for the comments Atmasphere, and a way to slip tubes into the mix. :)

I am not at the level of truly understanding all of the concepts in that article but have read enough articles over the decades to kind of get the basics in.

I'm thinking the splitting of the signal in the Blomley amplifier is not too distant from the one used in my Golden Tube Audio SE-100's (I have two of them) with single input tube and two rows of EL-34's flanking it.

Has anyone seen this circuit..Its a golden tube se100 and
