Apologies if this is an obvious answer, but I'm intrigued if there is a major difference in SQ btwn Blu Ray audio versus Red Book CD.
I ask because I've been collecting a lot of deluxe edition box sets for landmark albums and artists' career retrospectives, and more and more come with multiple Blu Ray discs as well as CDs and vinyl.
In many cases there is exclusive material on these Blu Rays, and so I'm intrigued how they might sound on a Blu ray/4K player with established good SQ credentials (like the Magnetar UDP-900 player).

Blu-Ray Audio is usually lossless 24 bit 96khz, or 192khz vs uncompressed 16 bit 44.1khz for CD. Blu ray video is usually 24 bit 48khz, but some can have a higher sample rate. One of the big points for Blu-Ray audio was also multichannel surround sound mixes, similar to DVD-Audio.

As always, the quality of the recording and master is most important, but high res digital formats like used on Blu-Ray audio are more resolving than CD quality.

Appreciate that. Have been musing as to whether to get a specialist Blu Ray/4K player to make the most of these discs that come with the deluxe box sets I'm buying, might consider that now.
